Halford's killer ending notes on Tyrant, Victim and Dreamer Deceiver are too much.

That, and his ending note on BtRoD are prob my fave performances of his.

This deserves the same average as Painkiller, even though I like Painkiller more.

I agree, and I actually prefer this to Painkiller just a tiny bit.

Honestly, I personally think this is Priest's most influential album, but I prefer Painkiller based on my history with the album.

the original tracklist starts with prelude and ends with Deceiver.
that's how it was on the sleeve of the first pressings, but somehow the sides got switched and the album would start with Victim of Changes. that's how it's been since with all pressings and issues (official or not) until in 2011 they released a box set of all the Halford albums, with Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings finally getting official remasters. on that edition, the original tracklist was restored.

I listened to the 2011 edition once but

yeah i think i like it more with victim of changes at the start

It just works too well as the opener. I still find it a little hard to believe that it wasn't intended as such originally. Sort of a blessing in disguise they were switched, I'd say.

"Victim of Changes" certainly is the stronger beginning to this masterpiece.

I can vouch for that.

Fucking love Tyrant so hard, it's really not something I can be objective about.

It could be considered that, since prelude is just a, uhm... prelude.

Couldn't agree more, as seen just a few posts ago!

"Tyrant" would have been a nice opening, even though "Victim of Changes" was a better choice.

That I can agree with. It kinda leads into the rest of the album much better.

Yes it does, especially with "The Ripper" up next.

Especially when it is the bridge between the greatest two Priest songs.
