Review Summary: Pac comes and tells you another story.
So again I ask you who is or was the best rapper of all time?Of course the man goes by the name of Tupac Shakur. The now infamous Shakur was murdered in 1996.That also triggered the downfall of Death Row Records and the spotlight was again on East Coast.
Better Dayz is yet another posthumous album released by Amaru/Death Row in 2002.It is also the fourth album released after his death.
Better Dayz is made up of unreleased and remixed tracks that were recorded while he was still alive. As the album’s title suggests, it has many emotional and political tracks included.Aside from this Shakur also takes several jabs at Bad Boy Entertainment and his main rival Notorious B.I.G.
Better Dayz starts with Intro in which a reporter is talking about the release of this same album and Pac’s fans can be heard shouting „2Pac, 2Pac“ in the background when the intro suddenly ends and album opens with an aggressive track Still Ballin’ and is perfomed by 2Pac and Trick Daddy. The following track is called When We Ride On Our Enemies and takes several jabs at Mobb Deep.
The last track on Disc 1 is Thugz Mansion perfomed by 2Pac and Nas which is probably the best song on the album.Thugz Mansion can also be found on Nas’ God’s Son album released the same year.Music video was also made for the song and shows the dramatic struggles on the streets.
Disc 2 starts with My Block. It’s easy and simple production and amazing four verses rapped by Pac really can touch the soul of every person. It’s certainly one of the best tracks recorded by Pac ever.Following My Block comes the remix of Thugz Mansion but it features 2Pac perfoming solo and has no verses rapped by Nas.
Another impressive track worth pointing out from others is also named Better Dayz.As the title suggests it’s another emotional track.Pac again manages to go „into you“ with this one.Track itself is produced by a longtime 2Pac collaborator Johnny J.The chorus is singed by Ronald Isley who is credited as Mr.Biggs.
Even though the fact that 2Pac had rivalries with many East Coast artists it’s uncorrect to say that he hated and would have dissed the whole East Coast. His own rap group Outlawz orign from New Jersey.2Pac himself was born in New York. The track Military Minds features Buckshot & Smif-N-Wessun, two members of Brooklyn based group Boot Camp Click.
It’s so far probably the best posthumous release by 2Pac.Even though the fact is that Pac himself probably wouldn’t have released it like it is, it still is a little bit better than All Eyez On Me so if you are looking for something between Me Against The World and All Eyez On Me then this is the album you should get.Overall it sometimes may get a little boring because of so many tracks, still if you are a fan of 2Pac then get it.
