ughh i hated both hollywood whore and that other single off this album, so disappointing, although with the except of The Paramour Sessions and Infest, the band overall has been a gigantic disappointment.

Nice review mate :-). Infest was a good album and getting away with murder had some Okay songs, but to be honest I've never really cared for this band much.

Croc, I am "more human than a humannnnnn"

Thanks for agreeing with me on this album for the most part MetalStyles. To me the drumming has gone from meh to meh, so I didn't think it was even worth mentioning. As for 'I Almost Told You That I Loved You', I had both of the things you mentioned in my notes. I could have included the lyrics for the whole song really. And I agree that the riff on that song is pretty darn good, but I didn't want to give it any credit due to the lyrics. In truth, it is probably the 4th or 5th best song on the album, which probably tells you how poor the LP is.

Thanks Balls. It seems that even people who wanted to like this album, can't do so.

Nagrarok, I usually have a few reviews pre-written at any one time. I didn't think I would be posting this one until Monday or Tuesday, but it came out in Oz on Sunday, so hey presto. I'll probably be slowing down a little between now and when I disappear for 2 months in mid-May.

Bitterandthensome, if you didn't like 'GAWM', then you probably wouldn't like 'The Paramour Sessions' or this, so you have made the correct decision. Thanks for the pos mate.

And yes, that cover is indeed bad. I think the photographer who did the Chris Cornell cover may have killed 2 birds with the 1 stone. I blame the global economic crisis!

Flip the page & you may find more comments d!ckhead (that is aimed at myself btw).

Corc, I am off to Europe for a 2 month vacation in mid-May. Sorry, but the last thing on my mind there will be SputnikMusic or Green Day!

'Scars' is an alright song if you take it for what it is; a tilt at the mainstream to get the band more known to the casual listener. Plus, as corny as that chorus is, it is darn catchy.

Marko, I can just see you air-guitaring away to these guys. In fact, I reckon that if you were to release an album yourself, it would have a similar to album cover to this. LOL.

Ahrimanic Trance, I will say that I don't think the 2 lead singles are anywhere near the best this album has to offer. Although, I guess that isn't saying much. It's good to hear that 'The Paramour Sessions' is getting some love around these parts. That's why this is all the more disappointing.

Jom, I guess Papa Roach may feel that it's best not to pre-promote their album releases.... Especially when it is as ordinary as this! Oh and if my memory recalls some of your album ratings, I'd actually be very surprised if you personally rate this above a 1.5.

I have no knowledge of the fit of the underwear worn by these dudes.

Thanks Ross. I guess you sort of touch on a point with Papa Roach; When they finally get around to releasing a 'Best Of', it would actually be pretty good!

Yeah, I still probably wouldn't be too tempted by a best of tbh; it would probably still have quite a bit of filler =/

This review's made me realise that I really need to get up off my ass and start writing some myself again. Great stuff as always.
I reckon I'm better off avoiding Papa Roach, although Last Resort is catchy. The problem is, I wouldn't be surprised if 99% of their stuff turns out to be generic nu-metal/mainstream rock (although really good nu-metal/mainstream rock is pretty much irresistible imo), which isn't something I'm in the mood for.

I'm a papa roach fan and will automatically love anything they make, but I agree this isn't as good as their other albums.

Yeah, come on Spamue1, start reviewing again. You'll go insane like Ross has if you don't.

I guess Papa Roach is indeed generic. At their best, they can be mindless fun though. Of course, that doesn't mean that they have to target their songs to the strip-club audience though.

Korraeswai, a 4 is a super high rating for this. Hell, I may even classify myself as a fan of theirs, but there is no way I'm that blinded to rate this album that high.

I'm a hardcore fan. And I wouldn't go around blindly rating music. I agree this is a step below Infest and The Paramour Sessions, but Infest is one of my favorite albums ever released. I love this record, but in terms of Papa Roach I'm disappointed, kind of like when Getting Away With Murder came out.

Fair enough Korraeswai. We all have our blind (or should that read deaf?) loves. While I agree 'Paramour' & 'Infest' are their best albums, 'Getting Away With Murder' at least had the purpose of breaking them into the mainstream with 'Scars' & the title track. This album has no purpose whatsoever... Unless one is part of the strip club scene.

Good to hear you're "cracking" out another review Ross. I wouldn't want you to go insane or anything.

Wonder if they were going for a Kafka reference. Papa ROACH. Hm? Hm? Either way, this band is shameful, aside from nostalgic purposes. This Message Edited On 03.22.09

I don't think Papa Roach were around in 1915. But after this album, there may be a few people who would like them transformed into insects!

Totally agree with you on the "nostalgic purposes" comment and I think that would apply to quite a few music listeners.
