St. Anger is not a redefinition of metal. its just Metallica making a "Metallica Grunge" album

I think it's just a sloppy angry mess.

I Love this Album Very Under rated! i said it somewhere else also but this album got me out of a really bad depression, at the time i was just getting into Metallica (their my favorite band) so i didn't judge this one to their earlier ones i just took it as it was. solos would have been nice though and i actually think the snare drum fits really well in some songs ("dirty window", "my world" "all within my hands") amazing album (at least to me) i do understand why some find it inaccessible and don't like it. Oh and great review i completely agree!

This album actually did have some good ideas and I can appreciate the intent, yet so many mistakes went into this album and the fact that it was rushed with a band that was not happy doing what they were doing at the time did not help. overall extremely disappointing and I believe that is what earns this album so much disrespect. The fanbase was expecting something more similar to puppets, lightning, justice, or even the black album, but instead we got something that felt like a quick cash-in for a band that was imploding at the time.
if you see the true mess is he has got into varied style of singing
and that has eventually got the downfall of the band
fine the songs are seriously intense St.anger itself the album has a few songs
groovy and head banging
the true spirit of metallica is the hard rock feel which has now elevated so much that its found no where.
Great album, a classic for it's time

Not quite on the level of Lulu, not enough tables but still...
