I'm just stoked to hear more from the band. When you think about it there's only maybe 3 or 4 "new" songs from the band on this album. More than half of the album is old material re-recorded. So I just want to hear an album full of material from where they are at now musically.

This is very true. Although, I was a huge fan of their initial EP as well, so I was really digging the re-recordings of the old songs with the new singer (who i'm actually a fan of over the old singer, who couldn't sing live for shit). I was actually really bummed that they didn't re-record "When Two Blood Types Coalesce" off that EP (the solo at the end melts my face).

I talked to their guitar player for a long time after a show recently and he said that Sumerian is already grilling them for a new album, so expect more epicness relatively soon.

I haven't heard the ep yet, so it is up to par with this?

The recording is of a lesser quality, but that's to be expected from a band's first EP in comparison to their full-length. A lot of the songs are re-recorded onto the LP ("A Never Ending Search For Closure," "The Skies are Blackened," "Improper Burial," and "Eternally Gutted"). There are only two other tracks on the EP, but they're both pretty sick. It's also a different singer who uses more of a higher range most of the time.

I wouldn't put it quite as up to par with this, but it's definitely worth a listen.

I did then I lowered it again lol.

But this is back to a 4. I'm actually liking it more with repeated listens. Middle of the album is a little weaker than the rest of the songs but album is a blast to listen to. Improper Burial is probably my favorite at the moment, but the first two tracks are brilliant. Eternally Gutted is awesome but that part where the music stops and the whole band yells "woo!" is kinda gay lol. The name is also really wtf.

Overrated?? Most people have never even heard of these guys, including metal fans. Hard for me to consider such a small band overrated.

I agree with all of that. The guitar work in "Eternally Gutted" is simply brilliant and the drums in "Improper Burial" are soso sick.

This keeps going between good/great and average for me. It's good when I listen to it occasionally but then when I listen to it a few times I get bored of it really quickly.

Yea I had a chance to talk with John back in July. Apparently Sumerian didn't expect this album to do that well and only gave them the bare minimum promotion they could, and even despite that fact the album has actually done pretty well for them. So right now they apparently want the guys to get back and write some new jams so they can give their next release much bigger promotion.

i honestly cant get into this. its good, but its just got that rehashed 'been here, done that' feel to it. There are so many better tech bands out there, as well.

Well considering this is deathcore, it's nice to see some originality within the genre.

Exactly. It's hard for me to even consider this deathcore, it's so far and above all other acts.

This band is probably the best one Sumerian has. They're like Veil Of Maya except not boring.

This is pretty good, and probably some of the best deathcore out there, but I feel that Return from Exile just pulls this off a little better. Fans of these guys should check them out.

nice to hear something different in the deathcore genre... although the breakdowns still get stale.
