i thought this album is light years better than Sacrament so far. I gave it a 4 for now...we'll see how it treats me 8 months from now, but it's as good as their older stuff for sure.

The album turned out better than I was expecting, its not bad at all, but its not really blowing me away. The song structures are very boring compared to some of their older releases. This band is just getting a little too recycled for me.

Listened to it, loved it, I remember when Sacrament come out it was like "oh this is not as heavy as their old stuff, its over produced, they have sold out blah blah blah" then they put out an album thats heavy as fuk and its "oh the riffs are boring, its average, Randy is trying to sing" Fuk these guys cant win! This album is Lamb of God back on form if you ask me!
|
| |
the riffs on this are boring though
|
| |
Lamb of God can be back on form but they were a shitty band to begin with.
|
| |
Not a bad album, I enjoy it more than Sacrament

Lamb of God was able to refine their sound on this album to the extent where everything including the bass sounds prestine and thick. But the writing on it was just average; there really aren't any memorable tracks. A bit of a let down if I say so myself. This Message Edited On 03.17.09

I'm listening to this album now, for the first time. It seems to be quite focused, keeping to the trademarks of Lamb of God. I love this album. The production is very solid. Randy's voice might be starting to go a little bit here and there, but that's to be expected singing the way he does. Contractor and Grace really stick out to me. I loved the passing with it's accoustic begining and the transition.

That's because everyone on sputnik is a sage and experienced musical expert whose opinions matter.
Watch in amazement as they all agree how mediocre
all the latest albums are, and pat each other on the back.
Two pages on, one of the ringleaders, who will have at least 5000 comments to his name, will say "Oh, well actually it's a grower, it's really pretty solid after all-gee whiz, this album slays everyone is just trying to be cool like I was twelve comments earlier."
Watch in awe as everybodys album ratings mysteriously begin to metamorphosize from 2.5's to 3's to 4.5's.
Interesting pattern, hmm?

I like this album. I'm not a big LoG fan, heck the only other album by them that I own is Ashes of the Wake, but between them this is definitely the better album for me. Yeah the riffs could be more experimental and the whole thing is turgid as fuck, but the breakdowns are pretty good and the music itself feels and sounds a lot more focussed than the music on AotW.
Just thought I'd add my two cents.

I Think this is tied with Ashes of the Wake for the best al;bum they have produced. Why? well because they're the only 2 I listen to without skipping tracks. Solid album.

yeah i dont see how these riffs can be called more boring, less technical than the other albums.... umm everything definately at least AS "technical" only this album feels much faster than the other albums, except as the palaces burn, perhaps, thats my two cents
PS, for those sputnikers that say this is, simple, boring, whatever, do you play guitar or in a band at all? because i would love to hear your songs, they must be mind blowing considering your opinion of the talents of morton and adler. This Message Edited On 03.31.09

the whole thing feels a little fake....
Imagine a decent band covering all the LOG songs that didn't make the cut for WRATH.
That is pretty much exactly how I feel when I hear any song on this album.
And, being a drummer, I love Chris - but damnit, how many times can we put up w/the SAME minor variations on the exact same fill/beat at 180-220 bpm????
|
| |
Burnyourface, technical is technical, whether one plays the drums/guitar or not. Just because someone doesn't play the insturment, it doesn't mean their opinion is worth any less than yours.
Might get this album when I can be bothered. This Message Edited On 04.02.09
