I couldn't agree less about Akerfeldt's clean vocals... they're my favourite thing about the band! I think very few other singers could make me enjoy Damnation as much as he does.
I'm not mad about Opeth generally, but there are a few moments when I can get past the repetition and my hatred of death growls (naturally meaning I love the clean sections) and really enjoy them. Having got Blackwater Park, though, I don't really feel any need to get this as well.
Good review, if a little awkward in parts. Pos

^^I'm with Spamuel, Akerfeldts clean vocals are as good if not better than his growls, and whilst they are not as good on thisalbum as on Damnation, they are still excellent. That said you have written a good review here.

I got bored with his vocals on Damnation. It's a lot better when he goes from the growls to the clean vocals.

Yes, when done correctly I agree Poet, however I think the mood on Damnation is so soothing and it's this that I love about it. This and Blackwater Park are above Damnation but thats about it.

I can't think of an instance on this album where I thought they went on too long with one idea and it got boring. There are tons of twists and turns and they're basically all seamless. And I can't fathom how someone who has given two Coheed & Cambria albums perfect scores could possibly complain about these vocals being cheesy (I love Coheed btw). Finally, avoid post-metal at all costs.

Watershed is easily one of Opeth's best. Better than GR in my opinion. It flows better.
