How is that sad? At what age are you supposed to stop liking and enjoying boobs??? I'm just curious because that's the age I take out a huge life insurance policy and kill myself (proceeds to go to breast implants for "under privileged" women).

"Fly on the Wall" is one of only two good songs on this album. By the way, nice first post... very articulate ;)

I do agree on this one not being the girls' best album.
But I do believe songs go beyond the girls voices [that sometimes suck, honestly], I've heard albums with [total] lack of vocal talent & still give me shivers.

The first single "Beily Plashick/White Robe" is more than tits & vaginas. And also more than a pregnant woman being shot. The uncensored/remix version of the video it's a metaphor between good & bad, how the society is divided & hypocrite, how anyone can have 2 lifes [prostitute & excecutor] or [pregnant & criminal]; OR as stated by the girls, it's a video against abortion. Not against the right, but against doing it without consideration.

"You & I", maybe an european, latin american & asian hit, not in U.S., obviously - like it happened on the second album. The other russian songs can have any meaning by their metaphors, "220" [...volts] some people think it's about suicide or an electric feeling & the video really cool [mixing a sad song w/choreographed movements], "Marsianskiye Glaza" it's a russian way to call kids with down syndrome [a.f.a.i.k], "Chelovechki", well, the english version it's way better. "Ne Zhaley", cute ballad. The Intro & "Veselye Ulybki", well, the mistakes. Would like to know who had the smart idea about them.

Yes, there's a lack of number of tracks & songs that you can call a russian hit. I wish we could have another 200KM, but the girls are taking another direction, or well "someone" are taking them there. "Fly On The Wall" could be a 'stalking' hit if they hurry up, or it will be a waste. I agree on what you said about "Vremya Luny". In general, the lyrics are what make it, well, if you really try to understand them, if you take them literally, then they will be ridiculous. [i.e. "Brain on the door..."]

Translated lyrics: http://nichya.blyat.net/

I'm a fan, but not the "insult who ever doesn't like t.A.T.u." kinda fan. The album could be way better, but... it's a test, independent after being on major label. Ouch. But well, they believe on what they do & know they have thousands of fans around the globe, so they try their best. Hopefully the next english album, coming next year, it's better.

Songs can definitely go beyond the vocals and they should for most genres of music. Their two previous albums were able to have quality music even when the girls weren't quite "there", but this one doesn't have that quality music. They made it too minimalistic.
Any statement they're trying to make goes out the window with the way the video is presented. The nudity is there to get people's attention (and it worked), but it also draws that attention away from any supposed "message".
"Fly On The Wall" could be a 'stalking' hit if they hurry up, or it will be a waste.
Agreed
I'm a fan, but not the "insult who ever doesn't like t.A.T.u." kinda fan. The album could be way better, but... it's a test, independent after being on major label.
I consider myself a fan too... enough to even get the russian version of their second disc (in addition to the English version). They're just missing too many elements on this album. Hopefully they bounce back.

Can I ask something (if you even come back)... how did you find this review? Is it linked somewhere or did you just stumble upon it? I ask because the last two posts have been brand new users that only posted here. This Message Edited On 12.13.08

I still don't know how to quote so I'll do it this way...

-Yes, they made it minimalistic. Some tracks sound like demos & unfinished songs.

-Obviously, for the people who watch videos just for entertainment [i know, i know, that's the porpuse...], this is an easy way to watch russian 'celebs' nude. That's why the single of BP [with the uncensored video] was in the top of the charts for album sales in Russia [oh, those crazy russians with their snow & vodka. Naughty]. Nowdays everyone wants to watch celebs go crazy, nude & do scandalous stuff. There's a message on the nudity, but people won't see it. Too bad. But hey, thumbs up for $$.

-I just hope they can have the same energy & feeling they had on the first russian album, their best one. The second russian one was cheap [songs we had already heard, with royality free loops, but now on an actual album]. The second english was really 't.A.T.u. turned pop parodying themselves', making other people rich from the band. Happy Smiles it's better than Lyudi Invalidy, songs from this album & early versions of some L-I tracks would have make an amazing album. It's a good album, but not exactly "there". I just don't feel it too much "t.A.T.u-ish".

They really need to make it work, 'cause getting on #15 on the iTunes chart, gives a clear view that some people still are interested on them [appart from the fans].

It's linked on the official t.A.T.u. forum, they are looking for reviews & stuff. But I got interested on the site, gonna be around. This Message Edited On 12.13.08

Now that Tatu has gone to the highest extreme with a music video do you think they will run out of ideas or try to do something more extreme and fail miserably? ideas anyone?

Well, that's cool. There's a lot you can do here. Just don't let the others get to you (there seems to almost be a
"hazing period" for new users).

I think that now that they've
pushed this angle about as far as it can go (without moving into XXX territory) they'll settle down and focus on the music. I really
do... or I really hope so, at least. This Message Edited On 12.14.08

Sadly or Fourtunately [Any way you wanna see it] - that won't happen.
t.A.T.u. are a product made out of scandals & it has survived the test of time because of that: Lesbians, shocking videos, sexual underage concerts, then not lesbians, documentary [with stuff like drugs & abortion], dramatic reality show, then pregnant with a married guy, another shocking video, pregnant again, second album theme about disabled people being bad [ soul/love/social disabled, obviously. But russian disabled people didn't like that concept ] , soon-to-premiere lesbian film, nude video, plastic surgery & that's just to say a few. That's what made them get to the top & they don't chart when they do simple stuff focusing on music [i.e. Gomenasai].

To ask them to be serious about it, it's hard. Even the fans don't want them to stop being scandalous. I don't. I wanna see how far they can go & that video is not really extreme. They can be a legend if they can pull out artistic & at the same time scandalous stuff - for being a Post-Gimmick Pop band.

To say if they will last, it's unpredictable. People in 2001 thought they wouldn't last long, in 2003 also, in 2004 almost happens. They are still here.
