so fucking funky, with strong lyrics that we learned to expect from q-tip in the tribe days, and which he didn't give us with Amplified.
i'm so pumped that he managed to put out an funky dance hip hop record without going purely dance pop-rap as he's done for so many years in his side projects.

This cd groves soooo hard.
Q-tip definatly is doing something right.

I haven't listened to the whole album yet. still on the fence whether this lives up to my expectations after 'Amplified'.
regardless this is a good review and still an album I need to hear all the way through.

Very underrated. Tip brings it harder than he has since Beats, Rhymes and Life came out 16 years ago. Good beats too.

This is a very strong 4 for me. More people should check this one out - in terms of quality it's not too far away from Tribe in my opinion.

I'm a huge ATCQ fan, I mean huge.. and this album in my honest opinion is right alongside Marauders, Travels, and Low End

I pretty much felt the same listening through to it the other day. Nearly every song rules.
I just got Kamaal the Abstract and haven't listened to it properly yet, but 'Barely in Love' is so good.

my dad used to have Q-Tip's first album on cassette, fun fact

Nice. ^
My old man doesn't like hip hop but he's never heard any stuff like this.
I saw a video of Tribe on Letterman the other day doing 'Check the Rhime'. The call and response 'you on point Tip? 'all the time Phife' - they did that with the house band.
And also a video of Q-Tip on Jimmy Fallon playing 'Barely in Love' with The Roots. More people should do live instruments in hip hop honestly.

^^ Agree completely, while I think on average the best hip-hop is made with samplers and other hip-hop oriented tools, when it is done in a live setting with instrumentals corretly (The Roots are the best example) it can be freakin incredible.
And Curse, your dad sounds like a boss.
