I think my favorite quality of this band is all the different reactions that listeners have to them.

"I wanna make you come 200 times a day." You do, Kevin. You do.

Still can't believe people don't like this. One of the most catchy/memorable albums I've ever heard. Every day there are at least six different melodies from this album that I can't get out of my head.

Wonder how many times the reviewer listened to this. Sounds like you were reviewing it as you were listening to it for the first time, tbh

I agree, probably my favorite OM album. I can see why it’s so hated since it’s so flamboyant but I love almost every minute, so many great hooks. Their older stuff doesn’t do much for me; just don’t enjoy that straight-up psychedelic sound. It’s when his music started getting funky that caught my interest, mostly starting with Sunlandic, though I do enjoy some of Satanic Panic.

Do the haters of this album feel dumb yet? This album is such a hard 5. Yeah, it's flamboyant. But that's just part of the fun. I wouldn't hesitate to call this Barnes' artistic masterpiece.
Meticulously written and arranged, this has more packed into it than any bullshit you guys are hopping on. The way it seamlessly segways from idea to idea within matters of seconds, destroying any conventional idea of song structure. Funk, psychedelia, prog, R&B, electonic, and glam combine here to make an extremely catchy record that is avant-garde in execution. And the moodswings! This album is all about masterful juxtapositions, musically and lyrically. Flowing back and forth between the highest of highs and lowest of lows as if they are the same thing. People make a big deal about the overtly sexual lyrics, but fail to point out how they are thoughtfully surrounded with sections of deep introspection, doubt, depression, and surrealist imagery. It's such a personal album that should easily connect with anyone who has dealt with these themes. At the same time, it's incredibly uplifting. Musically and lyrically, it really doesn't get any better.

I'm listening to it for the n00th time, and it seriously gets better every time. It's just so detailed and thought out. I feel like this is the kind of album that would be considered a classic if given the proper attention. It's surprising to me that it hasn't reached that status. I started writing this comment on a whim after remembering how so many sputbros irrationally hate this. Looking back, it should have been a soundoff, but fuck it. Maybe I'll review it.

sadly kevin barnes will join the ranks of people who aren't appreciated fully until they're dead.

there is not a more prolific songwriter alive right now

this is far and beyond the darling of Montreal album by fans

Yeah I mean I'm a huge fan of all of his shit but still, I don't understand how so many people can hate this when it is what it is
