If you listened to their cd and felt that it deserved a 1 then there would be nothing wrong with that. You are voicing an opinion about ac/dc, not a fact. I do not like ac/dc and it's pretty obvious this cd will be no different.

It's so sad how they've fallen. I've tried telling people that this cd is just another ac/dc cd, but all I get is "You have bad taste in music, stfu" or "You only like underground bands, stfu."
I have too many idiots in my school -_-.

Oh I don't have a problem with people not liking them, like whichever band you want...yeah there are bands I don't like too, of course...what I have a problem with is people down-voting a band/album just because they don't like the band in general, or if one is feeding off of what other people say when one doesn't even have a basic knowledge of the sound of the band.
I don't go around flooding discographies of a particular band with 1's just because I hate them. That defeats the entire purpose of this website.
Anyway, life goes on.

I don't think this would be a 1 if I listened to just because there are a few things on here that have to be at least accidentally musical (I feel 1's should only be reserved for things that actually cause you physical pain to listen) but probably a 1.5 or 2...I can't stand how unapologetic they are about refusing to at least try and be a little bit different...anyway they were never even all that cool in the first place IMO

The thing about this album is that there actually are some stand-out songs; Stormy May Day (Angus does slide guitar), Anything Goes (a bit "pop" for AC/DC...kind of Springsteen-sounding), Rock 'n Roll Dream (seems like their first ballad?), etc.
Even for AC/DC, this album certainly is a bit different from their other works...and again, I have to say, for a 60-year-old singer, his voice sounds superb...the best it has sounded since the '80s.This Message Edited On 10.20.08

The review is good, but I have a question for the reviewer.
How come this is a 1 and Jet is a 4?
|
| |
In all fairness...after 30 years or so, slide guitar on one song really is not nearly enough to be different...also, I thought pretty much every AC/DC put out was pretty pop/radio oriented...

Besides You Shook Me All night Long, I have to disagree...if you listen to Anything Goes you'll know exactly how much more poppy this song is.

could've sworn atavan would like this album a lot

Well he gave a Jet album a 4, so I am pretty suprised as well.

this was playing in HMV today when i was browsing. i've never wanted to leave that place so quickly...
great review, and from what i've heard so far (the hmv airing and a coupla tracks online) it's pretty spot on.

Well I guess I'll contribute to this one more time.
Again just reminding everyone that the summary alone takes away any form of reasoning for the 1/5 rating.
So you don't have to do the old "oh I'm a understanding man...I didn't even read the review but to show how open minded I am I will say I don't agree but good review."
Also some might call it waste of time even looking for meaning in AC/DC's lyrics. Clearly you've got time on your hands.
Go try and find some bass guitar in the White Stripes live performances.
These are rock n' roll songs, about rock n' roll for the purpose of rock n' rolling. That's not what is considered "cool" today so you've got to give these guys credit.
It's not like there even claiming to do anything else. It's just people like to, for some reason, ignore everything the band says and assume that there changing musical direction on the next album.

Because I really liked the Jet album? Not as much as I used to (the original rating was 4.5), but it's still a solid release.
This, however, is embarrassing. Even by their standards.
I'd like to thank all the people that have commented on this so far and all the fanboys that are, indeed, spoilin' for a fight.

To be honest, I think you've completely missed the point of the album, and that is there really is no point to it. They're getting older, and for them really this was an enjoyable experience. They aren't trying to reinvent the wheel, nor should they have to, they are going to smash your brain out with introspective lyrical material, they aren't necessarily going to try and convince you that they are another band with a different sound.
I think the review and the rating don't go well together, and it also seems quite rushed. Expect to see a counter review for this from me, however, I respect your 1, even though I find it to be unjustified.
