I haven't listened to Atheist yet, something I should get around to. I don't mind the robot vocals, I'm just indifferent about them. I might as well put this on the list. I have it (obviously). If you don't want to search it out just let me know. There's only three songs so I can just e-mail them as three seperate attachments (usually).Alien vocals are the best part about this band. The music just kind of bores me. Sure they are technical and switch it up a bit, but something that lacks alot about Focus. I like the robot vocals too, but I don't think they'd work as well if it wasn't for the music. What don't you like about the music? This Message Edited On 10.07.08

They are missing elements from Focus, but if they sounded just like the album versions then this demo would be pointless to listen to
Sure, but I still don't think this is that strong of a demo, probably like a solid 3.5.

What don't you like about the music?
Alot of wank around the mulberry bush type of stuff. Too scatter brains for me (hence my bad Focus. joke hahaha). Too much good stuff happening all at once. I'm more of a music listener who likes stuff to be highlighted through builds and the individual showcasing of instruments. Hope that helps. I've given Focus enough chances (19 according to my Ipod count) and I just don't get it.

Focus is amazing, Traced in Air is even better (imho). But Wizard, I have to say that's the one of the best explanations of taste and preference I've seen jammed into 2 sentences. Let's me know a sight better why you're such a huge fan of bands like Neurosis, Moonsorrow, and Burst.

It took me 5 months or so of on/off listening to Focus before it clicked. Listening to Cynic takes a lot of patience but well worth it once you "get" it.

It took me a while to "get" Focus as well. Great thing about that was I didn't need any time to "get" TIA.
I'm sure I'll get to this eventually, too much damn metal.

Still though, it's cool to see where a great band got their start. Even if it was a bumpy one.

Thank you for the kind words.

I love chaos too, but in an organized fashion (even Genghis Tron sometimes hahaha). Grind especially was really difficult to get into, but the madness that is going on can be listened to as a whole and listened to one instrument at a time.

Yeah. I almost wish they had released a longer demo that was similar to this before they did Focus.

Where exactly can one buy the demos?

I would give anything to hear Cynic make a pure death metal album.

its a long shot but I would imagine it would sound something like Piece Of Time by Atheist

Haven't heard it. In fact, I only listened to Unquestionable Prescence a couple times. I gotta listen to it again.

Just an FYI - Tony Choy played bass on this demo, not Sean Malone
