I would say I am a medium-high level user. I only made this account in september last year but I've had a coupleof accounts and been lurking for about 2 years.

Anywhoooooo on topic, there are some middle eastern feels because of the scales used. Phrygian I think. Perfect to mix in with the Greek mythology and Japanese album title. Ha!

wow, 4000 comments in just a few months? that's incredible!

yes, that's the word i was trying to remember: phrygian.

personally, it seems awful dangerous to mix greek and japanese mythology. it's like shinobi vs. zeus. And then you add a badass musical scale? sheesh!

I finally forced myself to listen to this album. I was shocked... Many good things here. I'll have to spin it a few more times before I can rate it.

I agree. After Shogun I was expecting another steaming pile of Metallica rip-offs. I was soooo wrong. The vocals still need a bit of retooling but overall it is a great comeback album for Trivium.

Shogun (The track) had probably my favorite riffs out of any song last year.

Shogun at 7:45 gets me so jacked.

He Who Spawned The Furies at 2:00-3:12 is fucking fantastic.

I actually really liked this album. It takes some time to get used to some of the new sounds, though.

As if we needed more reason to say this band is the worst thing that happened to metal.

They're fucking disgracing Mayhem.

I'm not disagreeing with you but at the same time Mayhem disgraced themselves long before Trivium did

Crysis, I would say you put real thought into your argument, but you didn't. If you want terrible band photos, go look at pretty much any black metal band.

There's such a mixed bag of quality on this album. Some of the songs are absolutely fantastic, but then are a handful that are average/terrible.
