Godflesh are pretty much industrial but their style definitely influenced the "post-metal" sound.

Couldn't have said that better.

I've always had it in the back of my mind to check these guys out, but never have. Would this be a good place to start?

Yes this would or you could start with The Eye of Every Storm, Through Silver in Blood, or Given to the Rising. Post your hotmail or msn name in one of my lists and I will send you a bunch of their albums.

No, I'd recommend The Eye of Every Storm than Through Silver In Blood

after that, go crazy.

Tough call. I got into The Eye of Every Storm first and I didn't really like it too much. Their heaviest stuff is easier because its a little more straight forward (which isn't saying much).

Thanks, but it's cool, I shouldn't have any trouble getting them myself. I guess I'll start with The Eye of Every Storm, and see how it goes from there.

Maybe not then. Fuck it, I'll just get all of their albums and have a listen. This Message Edited On 09.20.08

I was a bitch for post-rock before I found post-metal. Other than Oceanic, which straight got me into post-metal, The Eye of Every Storm was my second post-metal album.

Isis' Panopticon and Cult of Luna' Salvation did it for me. Neurosis was something I stumbled on about 5 years ago and hated them at first.

so, I just got both Times of Grace by Neurosis and Grace by Tribes of Neurot, and are the tracks supposed to have the same name and same exact length? I'm confused.

you're supposed to play both simultaneously. neurot is a side project of neurosis, and most of their releases coincide with neurosis

yea, but I'm saying both of them have all tracks called the same exact thing with the same exact time. That just seems a little weird to me and like I got the same thing.

The tracks are the same time length. The name of the songs on my Grace album that I'm holding now are just 1-11 to connect with the track numbers on Times of Grace. Enjoy that combo album dude. Well worth your time!

Hahaha, I thought you understood that both albums are supposed to be played simultaneously. This Message Edited On 09.20.08

Another good review for a good band. I never listened much to Neurosis as much as I should have. It's a shame because i've known these guys for some time now but have been recently digging Given Into The Risng lately. I'll scour their disography when I don't have a migraine.

to be honest, I wish I could throw one of the albums on the left

speaker and the other on the right, that way I know which ones

which, but whatever. The first tracks sounded so fucking good

together.This Message Edited On 09.20.08
