I just got a saucerful of secrets and I'm loving it much.
I might check this one out some time, when I have some cash.
Oh by the way there is an eve longer song title around on "Shawn philips -Second Contribution" Its called "She was waitin' for her mother at the station in Torino and you know I love you baby but it's getting too heavy to breath" monster song at that, it's on the database so check it out if you like floyd.

Basically, this is the craziest thing that i've EVER heard.

I'm not sure whether i think it's good or bad. however, i can tell you that the part i liked most was David Gilmour's. It really gives you an idea of what their next albums are going to sound like. Especially Meddle.

Richard Wright's side of the albums was...odd. Some parts can really creep you out.

Nick Mason's was pretty interesting. Over all, I think that nothing like this had ever really been done before. So since i wasn't alive back then, i'm probably not getting the full WOW effect of this album.

On the other hand. Nothing like this album is being done today either...

^ I also thought Gilmours part sounded like meddle. I've only heard the studio album and have still got to listen to the live album before i can rate it. I dunno if I love it or if I hate it so far?

I never really thought it was that trippy... then again the first Pink Floyd album I listened to was the Piper.

nice review, a perfect description of the album. The live disc is incredible, I'd even say that most of the versions are better than the originals (especially saucerful). You're right aboot the second disc too, weird but certainly a very interesting edge to it. It's great for listening to as background music while writing or whatnot. Your opening paragraph is awesome and says it all. This Message Edited On 12.16.08This Message Edited On 02.14.09This Message Edited On 02.14.09

Boring as hell, even the live songs seem to drag on for too long.

Good review!

I've always thought the live album is quite possibly the best material Pink Floyd ever released while the second disc is average, but still interesting.

It's innovative and very good in parts, but too inconsistent. The live album is excellent. The studio? There's some good keyboard work and spacey sounds, as you'd expect, but I don't know, if I remember correctly (and it wasn't too long ago I listened to the album), "Granchester Meadows" was the only song on the studio side with lyrics. I like my lyrics with Pink Floyd, unless of course you're going to deliver 5-10 minutes of euphoric sounds as was the case with "Echoes", but even that legendary song had vocals.
