dont bring hip hop into this. the simple fact of the matter is that the reviewer didn't like the record and the fact he listens to more than just metal solidifies his opinion. maybe if the offended parties weren't such close minded douchebags they could acknowledge that there are redeeming qualities to such awful acts as the THE CRANBERRIES and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and (and this is the kicker) THE ARCTIC MONKEYS!!>!>! im sorry that some people believe that judas priest may have conceivably released a lackluster album, but perhaps its better to acknowledge that fact that continue being a complete douchebag.

Decent review but, I really can't understand the comment about hell bent for leather and british steel.... They are 2 of the best albums they've released. This Message Edited On 06.19.08

Did mike really just refresh the page 300000 times?
of course

You need to know about the subject/genre to write about it, and this is this sites flaw.
irony

I thought i had "rested my case", but wow, after THIS comment. i really am DONE.
don't let the door hit you on the way out

mike, how does it feel to be a disgrace to sputnik?

They are 2 of the best albums they've released.
To me they sound lazy and forced. I'm in the minority, but I definitely prefer Stained Class or Painkiller.

mike, if I were a sputnik mod, I'd delete every review you did that with and then make you resubmit that. That's ridiculous and selfish. You are a child and will never become a staff reviewer (as I've been told you aspire to be) with that kind of attitude. Ridiculous.

I'm only on my second spin as I write this. A concept album and I want to hear at least one disc of it straight through. After four tracks I'm telling myself that there doesn't appear to be any cohesion and flow between the songs.....And then I realize that I have the damn disc spinning on 'random'. lol. dur. dum de dur de dum, me. I'm six tracks deep now and might as well just keep going down this random route. No way to listen to a concept album though. It's still early, but it doesn't appear to me that the songs stand on their own, like in the case of Iced Earth's 'Framing Armageddon'. But, I will still chuck that one on and listen to it as one long piece of music. A single piece with several different 'movements' or sub-sections. That record definitely works if you shift you perspective a wee bit. That might be the case here as well. The title track is awesome. The twin, dueling guitars sound rich. But, it does seem lacking in really compelling instrumental parts. Again, really too early for a judgement. Really like 'Prophecy' too. Like the fact that many bands are moving into more progressive territory in general. I'd like to know what you cats thought about the last Iron Maiden album? To my ear, it sounded like some nice middle ground between Metallica's Justice and Queensryche's Mindcrime. The tracks were progressive and lengthy, but not dramatically so. I think that Maiden came up with some of the best melodies and hooks and hookish melodies of their long-asz career on this last one. There's nothing skip-worthy on the entire album. But, I have a feeling that the new Priest is gunna come up short in comparison. Really was hoping to like this too.

Spend less time spamming and more time lurking and seeing the flow of pos's and neg's, and you'll understand why.

I've only created an account to post my comment for all the open minded(ironicly) people here.If you don't know who Judas Priest are and what music they make, don't bother to post a comment at all!

"WillieFisterbut" says that he doesn't like Judas Priest but he finds Halford's project "two" pretty cool!!so why the hell you've posted a comment??!!

"SHOOTME" and "sonictheplumber", if somebody(for example Mike) tells you to jump from a bridge you will do it just because he says to?Listen to the album first and then judge...and "SHOOT ME" if you don't like the vocalist(Halhord) you don't like Judas Priest,so don't bother to post a comment either.

Anyway i like this album very much! It's a difficult album to listen to because it's too long(2cd's).Maybe it would be better to short things a little bit but after all it's not that easy to put Nostradamus life and prophecies in one cd.

It hasn't got that great riffs like Painkiller, but the ideas and the voice melody lines are beautiful.

My vote is 4.5 and i think that if somebody puts a vote under 3.5 he has problems with his self and never gets satisfied!
