I never said it was unique, I stated a subjective opinion of my favoritism. But I won't be to hasty in retaliation of your remark. All I was attempting to imply was that philosophy (the study of the meaning to our existenece) is more of an important concept than other ideas might be. Then again, it doesn't matter, I just love it for no reason other than that.

The only stinker on the album is "The Three - Dimensional Shadow".

Sampling this. It's not as bad as their last album, in fact I kind of like it. Vocalist has really improved. Still, every time you guys act like this is death metal, Satan kills a cat or something. I mean, this is pretty basic stuff; hammy modern rock mixed with safe slightly aggressive riffs and some over produced growls, essentially it's Mercenary done better. Still, I'm actually kind of enjoying this. Shame about the keyboards being awful on the two songs I heard, they really plagued the already painstakingly mediocre Pitch Black Progress and they dont seem to have gotten any better or any more gone. This Message Edited On 07.27.08

Pitch Black Progress was more catchy and fun to listen to then this. It's more melodic death. It's heavier then most of Soilwork's material at least.

Soilwork is a pretty bad example of melo-death tbh.

Scar Symmetry is, yes, extremely unoriginal, but being a quote unquote 'supergroup', I don't expect them to be original. The singer does much better in his band Unmoored, and the other members I don't keep up with. It doesn't make this bad music though. The vocals are great both ways and the music and synth work and everything else is played well.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you want Alvestram's best work, check out Miseration, he's awesome there.

Soilwork isn't death metal either, so that's a terrible argument to make.

Well it's not like you're an authority on the world's music so we can discuss what we want.

I'm just saying. Most people consider them melodic death metal or extreme metal to say the least. You can disagree because it's your opinion but it's not like it's carved in stone fact.

I dont care if people consider this "Extreme metal" or "death metal" because they're wrong. I hear people calling My Chemical Romance emo and All That Remains death metal but that doesn't make it true.
