If its a piece of crap you shouldnt rate it a 3.5.
But this is actually a very good album. Its def better than Soundtrack and A Sense of Purpose, maybe better than Come Clarity but idk.
I really love Free Fall, the title track, and Drifter. The only songs I think are kinda bad are Metaphor and Dismiss the Cynics.

What you wanted is a mystery to me
The words I hear are of scrambled letters
Guess it’s been there for years
Never let me know, I was alright

The Clayman and Colony days may be over but In Flames still rock the shit out of most bands to this day. Their old stuff was immense, but even this new sound is original and still heavy as hell.
This album, in fact, I would even go as far as to say is their best. It showed how they were changing their sound but how it was still the IF we knew and loved.
Even ASOP was a good album. In Flames have changed their style and quite rightly so. They've been making music for years and were probably bored of playing the same style constantly. I don't blame them at all. Especially when it still knocks the life out of most modern music (IMO).
In Flames are master of what they do and I think they should keep going. As the song by then suggest, they should just "Dismiss The Cynics".
:D see what I did there?!?!

This is definitely not better than TJR, Whoracle, Clayman, or Colony.

Its a good album but I think Clayman is the best. The new album is by far the worst. But its still In Flames so it owns a lot of music outright!

clayman is a bit overrated and by a bit I mean to a sickening level

Meh. It's still better than their modern stuff, even though that still owns

I have Whoracle. Its a good album. Wasn't Lunar Strain with a different vocalist, though? The guy whos now in Dark Tranquility? Or did I hear that wrong? Not so good on the very beginnings of this kickass band...

Man, Clayman is good shit. I don't see why people bag on it so much. It's not as great as TJR or Colony, but it's still really good and it has some great experimental songs like Satellites and Astronauts and Square Nothing as well as the excellent Only For the Fucking Weak.

I'm not saying people shouldn't listen to it if they haven't heard it, any time I reference something like what I said previously it never pertains outside here

I'm assuming that by "this" you mean Clayman, I could agree to a point, though his screams are a bit squeaky. You aren't missing the point no, but I guess my main problem is that the album just sounds like more of the same with over half the songs, and coming after a more intricately, or maybe uniquely, arranged Colony, it felt too watered down

yeah I love their clean parts, but they almost lost their signature tone somewhere in Clayman, picked it back up for two songs on Reroute then it completely died

Did you punch him in the throat to try and get him to sound like a man and not a dying woman?
