There's something really charming about the raw and (in some ways) primitive use of synthesizers on here

in the context of today's music. I generally think most things sound better with a little bit of

processing and FX on them, even if it's almost unnoticeable, but there's definitely a uniqueness that

comes from the lack of them as well.



I remember Barnt saying in an interview somewhere (which I'm having trouble finding now) that he uses very

little FX/processing on most of the elements in his tracks because the characteristics of the sound comes

from the FX rather than the source otherwise. It's undeniably given him a unique aesthetic especially in

combination with his stripped-back style.

There's obviously a decent bit of reverb present there, but I find a lot of that similar charm in the

synth-work, even if the style of music is pretty different otherwise.
