Amazing record. I downloaded it for no apparent reason back in 03' since I had never even heard of
this band. Just thought the album had a cool name I guess, and decide to give it a try. I must say I
was absolutely blown away by Thrice. The whole album is great and some songs are instant classics. It
has become one of my favorite records of all times ever since. And it's funny cause almost no one
knows this band here in Brazil. At least nobody that I know anyway. By all means a 5.0 in my book.

My personal favorite is Vheissu, so I'd recommend starting there. It's in my top 10 albums of all time. This is probably my third or fourth favorite Thrice record.

You'll definitely like Vheissu then. Artist in the Ambulance is really just straight forward post hardcore. Every album of Thrice's is pretty different though.

You should just start at the beginning and see the evolution of Thrice. It's a bitchin journey till the end.

Valid point. I'd almost recommend skipping Identity Crisis and just starting with Illusion onward since IC is so unremarkable and generic but the Thrice fanboy in me loves it anyway and hearing their evolution as a band is beautiful.

It should be noted that early and late Thrice are very different bands. If you like more atmospheric alt rock then later Thrice, and hard hitting, melodic post-hardcore for early Thrice.

This is heavier than Vheissu, but Vheissu is a lot more atmospheric

I think the heavier moments of Vheissu are overall heavier than this though.

@gwynbleidd:

They're very different. Illusion of Safety has a more metallic edge to it with some strained yelling for screaming and Artist just feels meatier and heavier as a whole.

Vheissu is heavier that the others at its heaviest, agreed

Illusion is faster and has the playful leads, Artist is more of a powerhouse and Vheissu is just something different; they're all outstanding
