I have to ask... what is it about Elements that makes you like it more. Is it that it's more streamlined, or those latin american influences? I don't like the lack of chaos.

Have any of you checked out Gnostic yet? It's the band with Steve Flynn on drums (the drummer on the first two Athiest albums). Gnostic also has both the touring guitarists from Athiest's last tour cycle, and it was produced by Atheist's vocalist, Kelly Shafer (I think that's how it's spelled). Check out their Myspace! This Message Edited On 10.07.08

I checked them out when you posted a news bulletin about them a while back. They seem awesome.

anyone ever notice that that doom riff in I Deny also appears in Service for a Vacant Coffin by autopsy and before either song also appears as the opening riff of Black sabbath's Under the Sun

i wouldn't exactly call this death metal. i prefer to simply call this "atheist"

Yeah. I wouldn't call them death metal just because Kelley has always sounded like a slightly more aggressive Dave Mustaine (IMO)... on the other hand, I hate genre arguements (but sometimes get sucked in anyway) and wouldn't correct someone calling this death metal.

This is great, haven't listened to it in ages. One of the first "true" metal albums I bought.
