I liked Steal This Album! but the truth is the songs on Steal THis Album! were just a collection of songs that didn't make the cut for Toxicity. I agree it's great but the vibes and themes are all very mixed. It's alot of different thoughts just tossed into a blender.

not true. although all these songs were made at the same time as toxicity, they werent rejected, there wasnt enough room, so they made 2 albums. but this is by no technical means a B-Sides. now although this is my least favorite SOAD album, its still one of my fave albums of all time. 'F**k the System' is such an incredible song and you cant forget 'Ego Brain'. Honestly, SOAD is definately an unforgettable name in the means of creativity and delivery in music. I have high hopes for Hypnotize.

Hated it. Nothing came close to the effective raw power of the first two albums, with the notable exception of A.D.D. which is an excellent song. I found the rest very underwhelming.

ah i think this could be my favourite album ever. it is so much more than a b-sides album, more of a greatest hits! ...well all except chic'n'stu. ego brain & roulette are simply amazing

Sorry, but there's no way I can agree with you on this one. This is actually SOAD's weakest release to date.

I agree and disagree. Their self-titled was by far their best in my opinion. I didn't like Toxcity to uch because it's what made them so mainstrem now. Also, I-E-A-I-A-I-O, Mr. Jack, Bubbles, Boom!, and Roulette were all good tracks.

All of SOAD's albums are good in different ways. Their original was very powerful and eccentric, whereas Toxicity was slightly more melodic and produced some incredible tunes. Steal This Album! has several good songs and some not-so-good, but overall all of their albums are amazing. Can't wait for Hypnotize!!!!!!!

so i was walkin in the store one day and decidedto steal an album, and ironically this was the one I stole. I wasnt to pleased with it, but it wasnt all bad. Roulette and Boom! were great listens. But I guess thats the price you pay for theft.
.....i was only kidding, so don't think im evil

^^ I see a lot of terrible "Stealing" jokes in all of those posts :P. Anyway i got this off a friend and liked most of what i heard. Mr Jack, Roulette, ADD and a couple of others are really really good songs. I can never get into boom for some reason. The third best system album this is, the force is strong with this one but clouded is its mind with the hard decision about whether to head towards the direction it later went or whether to head back towards their self titled's sound. Unfortunately it made the wrong choice...

now i firmly stick with thinking this is their worst album, but i just got to listening to it more and more and i really like the album a lot more now than i did at its release. Listening to Boom!, Innervision, and Roulette, i really have a new appreciation for the album. Their worst, but still one of the best.

It is SOAD's worst album, but that's no excuse to call it bad. It is a very good album, it just doesn't match up to the other 4.

Brilliant review. I agree with you that this album grows on you. We cannot make the mistake of comparing this album to Toxicity because its a totally different offering from System. Here the pace is not furiously raw like in Toxicity, its more medium-cooked. As I stated on someone else's review, this piece of work is more melodious and Daron lends a hand with the vocals. Not that Serj needs a helping hand. He seems to make a melody where there is none simply by using the full range of his vocal chords. I miss Serj's frenzied lyrics which blew me away in Toxicity, but as an independant piece of work, this CD is excellent.

b-rad150, that is really wierd that you thought Mr. Jack was eerie. When I was flying with my parents to England, I popped this in my CD player for the first time, and on first listen I liked it, but certianly didn't think it was scary. For some reason, that song got stuck in my head when I was trying to go to sleep, and for some reason it terrified me. I actually broke the album over my knee. We'll I'm back in America now, and it isn't creepy anymore. Highway song is sort of like a shadow of Chop Suey!, but not in a bad way. My favorite song on the album, followed by I-E-A-I-A-O, Mr. Jack and A.D.D. Nice review, but some parts were kind of wierd with wierd humor, but still nice job.

I've decided that this is second only to the s/t. There really are only 3 or 4 noticeably weak tracks, and 36 really shouldnt count.
