An Iron Maiden influence I can see, but Billy Joel?

There's definitely no harpsichord on this song.

hahaha, wow, totally not billy joel, i don't think Billy joel writes any avant garde piano solos that last for 8 minutes and have distorted guitars before and afterwards.

I'm gonna have to agree with Eliminator on this one. There may be some talented playing on this but it just sounds so lame.

Honestly, this fascinates me. I read this article roughly 5 days ago. Since then I've frantic looking up info about the band(interesting stuff) and desperately attempting to find this or any album they have put out...to no avail. I'll continue my search...but any suggestions as to WHERE THE HELL I can find this?

Hahaha, it's funny how this review was made at 2005 yet the comments are still up til now 2008. o.O
I'm from a far far away continent in the south of the planet earth, Australia and heard about X Japan since 4 years ago, got caught by them straight and addicted to them til now.
I just found this url, signed up on purpose just to drop some comments here.

First of all, thanks for the great review of Art of Life. ^^
Indeed this song is truly amazing, I never get bored listening to it, sometimes feel sad sometimes scared and lost when i listen to this. Amazing song that introduces lots of emotions in same time.
Not only this song rocks, lots of others from this band do.
And a very good news regarding X Japan, it's resurrected last year. Yes, X Japan comes back after 10 years. Surely they will bring the world, groundbreaking music as before, i believe in Yoshiki.

And as response to some comments above --> Yes, X japan is the only band I know so far that mix classical and heavy metal style into the songs as Yoshiki, the composer of almost of X Japan songs plays both soft melancholic classical piano and hard heavy drum plays. I'm amazed on how perfect those two substance get in together.
For those who loves classic, soft, sad songs more, I would like to recommend some of their songs: Endless Rain, Forever Love, Say Anything, Tears, and Unfinished.
You could check his performance in Tokyo with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra 2002 as well ... so much emotions and feelings in the songs.

Bottom line, this band is best for me so far.. The only drummer that use his whole body to express the music. He injured his neck during drum play in a concert AND injured his hands during piano play. You check some of their concert videos especially the Last Live. (youtube is always first choice for this or buying the DVD). I cried when I watched this concert.

For those who dont know where to get their songs, download the torrent or buy their CDs, available in ebays, amazon or other webs.
I prefer Art of Life Tokyo Dome concert version to mp3 one as the intro is piano solo which is more intense than combination of guitar and piano in mp3 version. Plus seeing how busy Yoshiki was, switching from drum to piano and back to drum during the concert.

Enjoy X Japan songs and email me if you want some of the their piano scores.
Gud day ^^.

I'm listening to this right now, and the piano solo just plain rules.
