Wow, I definitely did not expect to find anyone reviewing this band, let alone this song...
This song is indeed as amazing as Iai puts it to be. All of the band members are great at what they do, but not one of them approaches the ferocity or intensity of Yoshiki; not even hide, and that's saying something.
Listen to it with an open mind, perhaps after pondering the transience of existence and reading some Keats. Actually, I'm kidding, but that very well may be a good idea. Just love it for what it is: an astounding piece of music that should be enjoyed by all who care to listen.
By the way, fantastic review. Ja.

He seems to have signed up just for you as well. I can hear the ego breaking the sound barrier even as I type. (A)
Seriously though, this is definitely one of your best reviews. I listened to the song again the other day, and it basically re-affirmed my view that it's a truly great effort, and deserves all the praise it gets.

It's available on most file-sharing programs, but I haven't found it anywhere for a reasonable price, as it seems to be import-only in the UK. You could try ebay or something, I guess.

Thank you for telling me what the solo is supposed to represent. If I didn't know, I don't think I'd appreciate and love it nearly as much.

Iai have you ever heard of Rose and Blood Indies of X?
They have a track on there called "End of the World" It seems like a demo of Art of Life or something. It is the entire song (save for a verse or two) with all the melodies done on keyboard and drums.

Hi,
I am an X Japan fan from Asia. so pleased to find out so many people here appreciate Art of Life. This is gotta be their most important music/song ever written They only performed this song live once(due to the technical difficulty) but if you could, try find the video online, personally i think that's something you cannot miss if you love this as much as I do.
Just a little bit about the corelation of the writing of their songs, Yoshiki started playing piano at 3 and classical music has hugely influenced his music ever since. Hence a lot of their music have a strong classical/art element being injected. check some of their early songs such as: Silent Jealousy, Rose of Pains, even a ballad like Unfinished you'd only find out what music is about. Yoshiki is a fucking genius i'm not kidding you even though i'm a fan.
And I love them forever, literally
