you gave it 5 when you said that half the album are shockers.

No, I said that two were shockers, and that another two just shouldn't have been included (ie: Scarecrow and Flaming). If those two had been substituted for Arnold Layne and See Emily Play, then the album would have been a lot stronger.

But there's something about it that just makes me want to say "five", even if a couple of songs suck.

Lucifer Sam-
Directions-
1) Trip Out on some serious acid.
2) Sneak around your room and pretend to be James Bond.
3) Repeat.

I love this album, it has an amazing charm that draws me in every time...

"Unfortunately, Syd Barrett was fired from the band after overdosing on LSD"

I'm sorry, it was a good review and everything but if only you knew how stupid the above sentence sounds to someone who isn't living under a rock. Overdosing on LSD is physically impossible, and it's not even what happened to Syd if that was the case. He was (reluctantly) fired due to unstable mental behaviour.

He didn't mean overdosing physically, he meant mentally, which is one of the few dangers of LSD. He literally LSD'd himself into insanity, thoguh some claim his mental breakdown was inevitable anyway.

I'm always confused after I listen to this album. It seems like a lot of wanking without any real point. Weird for the sake of being weird.

And yes, PATGOD was recorded at the same time as pepper's, and the members of Pink Floyd have said that they listened to what the music that was coming down the hall and tried to copy it.

This album is interesting in parts, but nonetheless mainly serves as a primer as to why I should not ever do shit like LSD.

You don't have to do drugs to enjoy music made on drugs, just try to feel it, if it's mellow go with it, if it's off the wall go with it.

That's not what he's saying. He said he finds it boring anyway, and pretty much views it as a reason not to fuck with acid.
