neo-classical? are you being facetious or is that a serious comment? they may have less power/speed metal on recent albums but i've only heard a handful of songs off them so i can't be sure. that being said...neo-classical? NEO-CLASSICAL? that's even funnier than the death tags.

Remember what I said! But yeah, I'm not surprised that this album sucks, mainly because CoB haven't made a single good album anyway.

I am not saying all neo-classical. They have incorporated Neo-classical elements into their power metal realm of things, especially in their solos. The newer albums have gone more straight up heavy metal and lost that power/speed type metal almost completely. I am saying their older stuff (some of their new stuff) sound in the neo-classical realm. I can hear some Vivaldi esque influences....thus making them a bit neoclassical.

Now I am done arguing with Cocaine because it's like arguing with a wall that talks. This Message Edited On 04.08.08

I've always thought of CoB as just power metal with harsh vocals and a small thrash influence, nothing more. As for the neo-classical thing, I could see a smalllll influence on Something Wild and Hatebreeder, but no where else. Maybe I'm wrong, idk.

Sorry dude but biting classical compositions and speeding them up into guitar/keyboard solos don't make them neo-classical at all. At allllll.

Those songs don't even have classical influence. It's just melodic style guitar at the most.

Man, Cocaine is getting pretty worked up over this genre thing. Leave the poor guy alone. I must say that his avatar does perfectly match his personality here, though. And he does really like the word "facetious."

Anyway, good review, but I definitely dont think this is even close to being their most technical album. I would attribute that to Hatebreeder. Maybe I'm missing the subtle technicality or something.

This album gets a 3 from me overall, though. It really sucks that a lot of the songs have flashes of cool parts in them, but are fairly mediocre throughout the rest of the songs.

Yea, I used to feel that way about Bodom, but I think their other albums are far more consistent. Especially Hatebreeder. Hatebreeder is one of my all-time favorite albums. None of Bodom's other albums even come close to touching it imo.

Eh, coke might be offputting but his view of music is usually spot on as i pretty much enjoy what he does.

He's like a new pair of underwear...at first constricting but eventually he becomes a part of you.

except for against me!...Coke you're better than that! This Message Edited On 04.09.08
