I feel like Koloss has its own thing for sure, it's maybe more straighforward but its heavy and groovy compared to the spastic, frenetic atmosphere of obZen. To me, Koloss is more consistent, but obZen just wasn't my cup of tea.

You just got to listen to it more; it's a grower. I thought it sucked diltch at first but overtime it's become a 5. Cheers m/

I dunno, I mean I love Koloss and the album flows nicely and everything but I still think that each song on that album is basically just a song from one of their previous albums but touched up on. Break Those Bones is slow and dark like Catch Thirtythree, Marrow reminds me like something off Chaosophere, Hurt that Finds You is thrashy like their older stuff, I Am Colossus is kinda like a better version of Stengah with its weird vocal patterns and grooves, Demons Name is super intense like Bleed, etc etc

Once again, not at all a knock on Koloss- it's a 5 for me, but it doesn't get as much points for originality like Catch Thirtythree or something

I became a fanboy in 2002 when Nothing was first released, at that point all I was really into was nu-metal and the big four and maybe a couple of super well known death metal like Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse, so Meshuggah completely changed what I thought music was.

"CC is their worst full length easily"

Yup, this. I think it's the only Meshuggah album that's "OK" which makes it by far their worst imo

And fuck yeah, fanboy for 11 years, gonna stay that way

See, this is strange. I actually think that CC may be my favorite of the Meshuggah albums I've listened to.

Obzen (besides CC) is really the only album I've listened to thoroughly, though I've gone through Catch 33 also. I've seen them live twice, so I've probably heard most of Koloss by now (checking the setlists), and it honestly bores me to tears live. Usually anything off of Obzen is good though.

I am just sucker for melody, which is like the antithesis of Meshuggah lol.
