There Wu Tang and all their solo albums (GZA, Raekwon, Ghostface, etc),

Madvillain, Viktor Vaughn, and everything Doom.

A Tribe Called Quest for some of the chillest jazz rap.

90s Outkast for the best southern stuff.

Big L. Best flow of all time.

Public Enemy for obvious reasons.

Deltron 3030, Dr Octagon, and all Dan the Automator produced shit.

Gang Starr, Jeru the Damaja, and all Primo produced shit.

Cannibal Ox, El-P, Company Flow, and all El-P produced shit.

Bestie Boys for that alternative side.

Quasimoto - The Unseen.

You cant go wrong with almost anything form the early-mid 90s though.

this album is a classic but damn sure is overrated. all the stuff that Yankee mentioned is true. also look at the Pharcyde's first album Bizarre Ride II, its better but less serious than this. KRS-ONE's KRS-ONE (self titled) is lyrically on another level than this or anything nas has made. GZA's liquid swords is also better than this and much more lyrical, Beneath the Surface is up there with this album. As for new rap, look at the Game's RED album, Nas and Damian Marley's Distant Relatives (although Damian owns nas on that album) and JJ DOOM (MF DOOM) Keys to the Kuffs especially. Keys to the Kuffs is 2012 shit and isn't getting any attention, best album in 10 years probably

btw you coudn't make a bigger mistake by going from this album to Life is Good. his best to his worst in my opinion, look at It Was Written, The Lost Tapes, Stillmatic, maybe God Son, Hip Hop is Dead and Distant Relatives... so so soooo sooooo much better than Life is Good not even kidding
