I also agree that The Cool is a Awesome album, Dumb it Down, Fighters, Paris, Tokyo and Superstar are some of the most original songs I have ever heard. Don't knock this album because it's unique, after all thats what makes it good!

I really like this album so far. It seems the whole "white rapper" thing is more of a coastal thing because almost all the black people in the Mid-west here love Lupe and Common etc...

This shit is so good. Right up there with Food & Liquor.

This is a really good album and will probably be on my top 10 album list, I think the reviewer didnt listen to the album enough times. He has deep lyrics that you have to sit and think about to really know what the song is about. Me and my cousin had to look up the lyrics to "the coolest" to understand some of the rhymes.

Lupe kills most of the tracks, sure, but the production is mostly sub-par. I'm pretty sure I could have produced this album better.

i kind of prefer this production to Food and Liquor... i thought FnL had better lyrical work on tracks like Daydreamin and american Terrorist.

Lyrically the albums are matched reasonably evenly, but I just can't see how the weak-ass production here can be considered better.

I agree with many of the comments made by not only Dave but with some of the comments made here. I just thought I'd throw my two cents in, the amount that you enjoy this album depends on what you look for in rap/ hip/hop. If you are looking at the beats then yes, Lupe falls a little flat in the sense that they grow a little stagnant. However if you look at it lyrically then this is one of the best. Back to the beats for a second though, they do accomplish what he wanted them to, each song has its own mood, and help to contribute to the overall mood of the album so on a scale I feel like a three is a little low in the age of rap that we are currently in, however I don't think that this album is perfect by any means.

Can't be subjective in this age of rap.

I completely disagree with the majority of people here. This is an excellent album. I don't see how most of you are giving this less than a 4..... I don't think most of you doing so really have a good ear for good hip hop music, and appreciate the poetry he has put in the album, but that is just my opinion.

I would like this album more if Superstar wasn't the best song, and I wasn't sort of let down by that fact.

Definitely not the best imo.
Glad that I found another rap album that I can enjoy.

Best songs are Go Go Gadget Flow, Superstar, and Fighters, easily.
Digging: Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City |
