Heard this album when it was first released, completely by chance too. It also just happened to be the first "epic" sounding album that I'd ever listened to, and ended up being an album that was repeated multiple times in a row, for days on end. I actually just ended up with a copy a tape that belonged to a new acquaintance and ended up losing it (or it was eaten) over time.
Years later when I was looking for this on cd, all I could find was Downfall and Adagio. Neither of those were even remotely close to leaving the kind of impact Into the Depths left, and just felt so completely vanilla by comparison. Eventually I found the resissue on cd as well as Beyond the Crimson Horizon. I don't typically enjoy listening to Doom due to the repetition and mostly "boring" riffs, but as Solidute Aeturnus seem to be a fusion of Doom, Power with slight flourishes of Thrash every now and then, I have no problems listening to them. The vocals are also a bigger positive than what the review make them out to be.
Have you ever heard their original vocalist? He sounded like he was trying to do a really poor impersonation of Ozzy, yet was almost completely monotone in his delivery.

Yeah, the re-issues of the first 2 albums had also their first demo tracks with the first singer. Thank god the band found Lowe.

The following two albums are highly recommended. Most fans hate Downfall, and I can't see why, the album is awesome. Adagio is so gloomy and distressful, you will end up doubting whether you have enjoyed it or hated it. As for Alone, it's solid at least, a high 3.5 for me.
