I can see this being a grower, but even with that in mind, my first impression was pretty blown away.

This is the first time I had ever listened to something even vaguely challenging though so it was to be expected by transitioning from Linkin park to this, it wasn't the smoothest transition but welp

This really isn't all that challenging once you're used to enough noisy hardcore shit though but then I seem to be unlike a lot of people here where I don't really have trouble getting into noisy and ~agressive~ albums at all, no matter how overbearing it is I can take pretty much anything no problem

Unless it's cheesy 70's/80's metal. Fuck that

How is this different from DEP? Is it heavier? Less heavy? Jazzier? Less jazzy?

It's different in that Metalcore is one of those umbrella genres that ends up with extremely different sounding stuff stuck underneath it. It's less jazzy, more core-y. And not that similar to DEP overall.

Way heavier and akin to traditional hardcore punk than Dep

it's also better

Well I don't think there's any debate to be had but w/e opinions and what not

Oh yea and the vocals are impossible to understand, they're essentially grindcore vocals

I think DEP are way more frenetic and blood pumping tbh, Gwynbleidd.

Band comparisons incite, invite and imply debate.

And Gwyn, I was specifically referring to the "better" part.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised by the vox on this (in a good way)

DEP are almost hardcore from a vocal standpoint, where as jacob bannon employs more of a grind almost skramz like approach to his vox. ergo they are nothing alike

Well, there are similarities, but not enough to say one is better than the other at making their style of music.
