Yeah I'm really looking forward to it as well, return of the violins is only a good thing. I just wish they made it a little more stark and menacing rather than going for the gothic bullshit.

The interview I read said that they were shooting for stark and menacing (not in those words, exactly).

Edit:

BTDH: Back to the new album, how do you feel it differs from My Dying Brides last studio album, "A Line of
Deathless Kings?"

Aaron: Would you believe it, it's even darker? I've pushed the vocals further finding more melodies, as have the
guitars, and of course the violin has added a deep range of feeling. It's quite a fresh, melodic sound despite being
utterly despondent.

Well, it perks my hopes up a little, but he could just as well be saying the same things about the sound they had around the middle of their career, which was a lot more melodic and gothic-y than their early stuff. Although I can see how they'd go darker from Line of Deathless Kings. Either way, I'm looking forward to hearing it.

My download of the new album didn't work so now I decided to try and download this. Also someone recommended this to me like 8 months ago and I still haven't checked it out.

Album rules. I still don't like it better than A Line of Deathless Kings though. Still a solid 4. Don't see it going above or below that.

just for the record, this album is not their debut but second album released in 1993. Their debut is "As the Flower Withers" released one year earlier.

Album is ok I guess. Too boring in some areas and the vocals are terrible. Might need to give it a another listen to be sure.

Oh I agree...and My personal favorite is the title track is also my favourite off this too. Brutal riffs and some sweet fills to boot.

I'm not in a real great mood right now so I figure why not listen to some doom? This album is always a great choice.
