Big Casino is still such a jam. And Gotta Be Somebody's Blues is borderline top 10 JEW

Open Bar Reception and Be Sensible are so good like why aren't they on here

Their most underrated effort by far. I prefer it to Invented, Static Prevails and Damage.

This LP has some amazing tracks. Dizzy is one of my favourite JEW tracks of all time.

One of the best summer jams around.

This is really growing on me. Mostly the first three and last three tracks, The in between is spotty. I had low expectations based on what people have said about it, but it’s pretty solid. About on par with BA, maybe slightly below.
And Minty — just listened to Be Sensible and realized I had listened before. Great song. They definitely made a mistake leaving it off.
For anybody keeping count (nobody), here is my ranking thus far:
Clarity (5–they have yet to wow me again like with this album, but Futures came close — songs like Drugs or Me and 23 blew me away though)
Futures (4)
Bleed American (3.5)
Chase This Light (3 — but I’m feeling a bump coming on)
Static Prevails (3 — sorry guys this is decent, but has failed to grow on me after a half dozen listens)

This is actually getting close to a 4 for me. Might actually prefer it over Bleed American. Hard to say but it’s close.

I still love this album. Was my faithful companion when commuting to college all those years ago. There are some songs on here that are not that great, but thats compensated by a lot of fantastic songs. Dizzy is my fourth most listened to JEW track, it’s just so gorgeous.

Hot take, but I'd take this over Bleed American. Both are basically just pop rock records, but this is cleaned up, more consistent, and has a better production job. Bleed American has my fav JEW song in Cautioners, though.

One can pick any Jimmy as best and I'd understand and most likely agree.

CTL and BA are fairly comparable for me quality wise, but I’d give BA the slight edge because it has Cautioners, A Praise Chorus and My Sundown, all of which are better than any song on CTL.
I have both at 3.5s though.

Damn, Spotify has the extended version of this with a b-side called "Take 'Em As They Come." I've never heard this one before. Absolutely phenomenal song. Oh, why didn't it make the cut? And why is this band so perfect?

that's a Springsteen cover, but yeah, it goes hard. all the b-sides and the acoustic version of Dizzy from this era are phenomenal - Be Sensible is the general favourite for good reason, but I have a real soft spot for Beautiful Is

Ah, cool. Yeah, one can hardly call Be Sensible, Beautiful Is, and Open Bar Reception b-sides. They're all fantastic.

I don't know if I'm imagining it but Beautiful Is sounds like a lost electronic cousin to Integrity Blues t/t to me. ever since that song came out I've been appreciating BI more and more. I mean these lyrics are some of Jim's best:
Some say beautiful is only ones and zeros in the light
The skin that wraps around and keeps you here
Only hold you here in life
Don't love the soul, it's only dots and crosses in your eyes
Everything we do is just a thing
And it's only here for just this little while
