I'll be all over that review once you post it ^.^

I think anybody that is familiar with me on this site knows about my undying love for this band. So, if I were ever to write a review for this album, it'd probably be more worth it not to write about why it's so good, but to go on a rant about why it isn't a 5

Along with Jakoc, Bark Psychosis and Sigur Ros they've fast found their way into my favorite post rock bands as well haha I'm sure the site is like that with Isis by now when it comes to myself

Also as the only person on this site even anywhere near CK's love for this band I totally get what he's saying about this album and why it's not a 5. It could have been though which is why it's so annoying.

As for Departure Songs being overlong. CK you're gonna hate me but Chasing is overlong and has about 1 major highlight so it's not even worth the 8 or so weakest tracks in their discography for that 1 and the other good ones

Seriously, Floating Away is one of the best post rock songs ever.

Chasing can drag a bit, but when I'm in the right mood it sounds just right. You're right to say it has some weak points. It's definitely not the best album to pick and choose songs from like this one or Kenotic. It's more a start-to-finish album. Still, Andalusia, Dust Is The Devil's Snow, You Lost The Starlight In Your Eyes, and The Backward Step are some of my favorite Hammock songs

Yea that piano melody gets me every time. It's so full of genuine sadness and yet so moving.
