I haven't actually listened to this that much, but each time I do I'm simply blown away by it. It's just a bit demanding to listen to due to the length.

Well yes, I know what you mean and I have to admit, I have heard track one about twice as often as track two, cos of interruptions. And when I come back, it is like a day later or whatever, so I start the CD from the beginning again.
I just reread your review (which is right on) but you may want to edit the "The lyrics are sung in Swedish (?)" to "Finnish." Insignificant point, from my point of view though, cos I understand neither

Ah ok, Finnish, I wasn't sure you see. Hence the (?)

Great album, a solid 4. My only complaint is that the songs take much too long to get going, but once they are going they absolutely slay.

4 Seems to be the common rating on this site.

4 means "Excellent" and this album is indeed excellent. It's the rating to choose if you enjoy the album a lot but it doesn't blow you away.

I didn't think it was possible, but this may surpass Verisakeet as my favorite Moonsorrow album.

Finally heard Jaasta Syntynyt / Varjojen Virta in it's entirety, and all I can say is wow.
This is truly epic and quite beautiful.
All I can say is that
I love you Finland.

A serious, brilliant contender for album of the year.
After listening to this album three times through the last few days, I can honestly say I almost agree with the quote above. This is on my top 10 this year for sure, but it doesnt compare to Given to the Rising by Neurosis. Even though the atmosphere on this album is incredible, the immense power that Neurosis put into their albums is nothing short of classic. Gotta love the viking metal though!

Really? Alot of the music on here has been done before, just not as well. Neurosis has their own definitive sound. To each his own!

There are some pretty epic moments on this disc, and it's not bad, but it really suffers from being two tracks in my opinion.
Good on headphones though! This Message Edited On 12.18.07

Perhaps but it's easier for me to find cool bits then, rather than have to scroll through a song for 20 mins...Though I applaud the band's audacity and recognise this as good material.
Kivenkantaja is better though.

i guess maybe it has to grow on me a little more, i think kivenkantaja is more of instant gratification than this. it's just such a huge pill to swallow.
but it goes straight into my top 10 for 2007, that's for sure.

I found this for 18 bucks at fye but frankly I don't feel like spending tha mucht on two 25 minute songs. Don't have the time but I think i'll get this soon.
