nu metal is a stupid name, but to be fair there were a plethora of equally stupid bands during that time so a dumb name like that was pretty appropriate-mudvayne is just not one of them, at least not during l.d. 50 they werent

Nu metal was just a label which grouped bands with a lot of differences in their sound and style and they only simiarity was the riffing style.

There are loads of riffs on this that are straight nu-metal riffage, but most of it's so damn good that you can overlook that

It's easily the greatest nu-metal record ever made, in my opinion. I would have 5'd the shit out of this when I was twelve and ten years later, it still slays.

Yeah, this sounds like something I would've been addicted to years ago

It probably is the best nu-metal album there is, not much of an achievement but still.
I don't consider SOAD to be nu-metal though, in which case SOAD's self title would easily be my
favorite.

Deftones too, they have some nu-metal elements though on the whole i don't see them as nu-metal.

Deftones was nu metal when they released Around The Fur and Adrenaline. They abandoned the genre when they released white pony.

New game is their worst one. That album is painful.

Pretty cool so far, and OMG a nu-metal band with a useful bass player

Actually most nu metal bands have proefficient and decent bass players, their main problem with the nu metal bands is their guitar work. In a big part of those bands the guitar work is simplistic, insipid and unnoriginal.

Ryan Martinie is fucking ridiculous. All part of the appeal on this album. Anything after this bass playing is completely diluted. Damn shame.

The entire rhythum section in this band makes the guitarist look a dick head. lol

Like you say NapalmCrusader it's probably just the style of music. Doesn't look good on his part though. lol
