I think they're progressive because of their sound, solos, the way they structure their songs, etc. especially in Fear of a Blank Planet.

Porcupine Tree aren't progressive?

In a sense they are, yes. But progressive isn't really a musical genre because it has no specific musical characteristics. If you tell me that a particular band or song is progressive, that really don't tell me shit.

You used the terms progressive and psychedelic way too much in this review.

Things like this:

It is highly progressive, psychedelic,

really don't tell me anything.

I bought this album and "Lightbulb Sun" at the same time a few days ago. I'm glad that I didn't just buy "Lightbulb Sun" or I might have stopped my look into Porcupine Tree's past and missed this great album...

No, Dirty Sanchez, Lightbulb sun is my favourite porcupine tree album, although I am not being biased when I say it is NOT a bad album.
Russia On Ice is one of their best songs.
Definitely worth it.

Lightbulb Sun is by far my favorite PT album. Hatesong is one of the best PT song IMO. The Rest Will Flow is so beautiful too. Stupid Dream is a good Pt but not the best IMO.

1-Lightbulb Sun

2-In Absentia

3-Fear Of A Blank Planet/Nil Recurring

4-Signify

5-Deadwing

6-Stupid Dream

7-On The Sunday Of Life

P.s I havent hear the rest exept the song Fadeway which is amazing. I met get the rest soon.

Like FoaBP this has no weak spots - Absolutely brilliant from Even Less to Stop Swimming. My top tracks here are Even Less, Pure Narcotic, Stranger by the Minute and A Smart Kid.
