Usually I don't venture anywhere near metal or its subgenres, but I decided to go out on a whim and download this. I'm highly enjoying it. Good stuff.

Metaldude - maybe you should read the review before you ask a question like that.

I think that track two is actually 'Drought' and track three is 'Angel Tears'...I checked some tracklistings on the internet and from what I have downloaded 'NightEndDay' flows into 'Drought'. This is a very cool album from what I have heard - nice review.

Good album. Currently the only thing I have by Pelican, so I hope to get more.

Nice review.

So I'm talking to my econ teacher about a question on a problem set about supplying music. I mentioned that a lot of record companies are losing money to the fact that both recording technology (Protools) and distribution technology (the internet, specifically sites like purevolume.com and myspace.com) are accessible and cheap, making record companies nearly obsolete. Anyways, he mentioned that a fellow econ professor had a brother in the band Pelican. I was surprised particularly because I had seen Pelican just a week ago on Taste of Chaos. It's funny because I also attended the concert with my dad who works at a company that deals with economic principles, and my uncle had a lot to do with the creation of ProTools and now my econ teacher and I are talking about a moderately obscure band that was brought to me by the information technology of the internet, where I am now posting this story. Serendipitous.

Good story. My econ teacher has a benign tremor and pronounces all "t" and "th" sounds as a "d." He drove a 92 Geo Metro until 3 weeks ago when, in a snow storm, he drove it off the road.

Yes Pelican are instrumental. Vocals WOULD ruin them.

Anyone who likes this or any of their albums, i strongly reccommend they see them live. I have twice and neither time was i let down, they served up a plate of even more then i expected to get.

Good review. This album is really solid. I like all the tracks. Does anyone else hear shades of the intro of 'war pigs' by Sabbath in the opening of Angel Tears?

This bloody well floored me the first time I listened to it. Absolutely incredible, but some songs drag on a tad too long, namely the first two. The Fire in our Throats... destroys this.

After letting this album sink in I must say that it's much better then anything that I've heard from Isis or Neurosis. "Angel Tears" brings the goods.

I love this album. Isis and Pelican are pretty much even on my scale tbh. I guess it really depends on the mood i'm in atm.

Yeah, this album is so great, but I really think CoE is vastly underrated.
