the album istn that good i just listened to it on there myspace

this album actually did catch my attention on some spots. when i first heard Evolution i was SHOCKED to hear the pitch of the chorus vocals :S
on the other hand i was surprised that the über-heavy riff in Here to Stay has been topped; the breakdown after the drumsolo in I Will Protect You is crushing. i believe it's the eight string guitar Munky has experimented with. This Message Edited On 07.24.07

I went in with the mindset that I was actually going to listen to KoRn and like it... but it didn't work. Jonathan Davis just has the worst voice I've ever heard.

Well, it's not as bad as it could be so far. But yeah, this sounds nothing like industrial.

worse than Fred Durst?...This Message Edited On 07.24.07

Well I mean using effects and being a metal band automatically means industrial right?

ha ha... It could mean industrial influences, but definitely not industrial. Front Line Assembly uses metal influences sometimes, but they're sure as hell not metal.

worse than Fred Durst?...
At least I can laugh when I hear Fred Durst. The only thing I do when I hear Davis is grimace.

So i just listened to the entire album after reading this review. I am disappointed
It's not very good in my eyes. It's tolerable at best but there's nothing about this album that really distinguishes itself from the earlier Korn i have heard apart from the industrial influences which feels like a bland inclusion. Jonathon Davis turns me off the most, i simply don't like the way he sings. It sounds like a 30/40 yr old still stuck in adolescent torment.

4.5! yikes, I doubt its that good...crap I really don't want to buy this, and if it blows thats a waste of 10 bucks, because I grew out of Nu-Metal, kinda boring

The reason I referred to it as industrial influenced is because a lot of the album sounds like The Fragile. The album is atmospheric, and a lot better than anything you've ever done.
But if you don't like Johnathan Davis's lyrics and vocals; you'll never enjoy Korn. But I've never really liked them and this has turned me onto Korn.

From what I heard this is actually a pretty good release for Korn. I may just buy it to keep up my collection of their whole discography.

this is a lot better than SYOTOS. that album was phucking crap - easily their worst along with TALITM.
|
| |
Take a Look in the Mirror and See You on the Other Side were so...so...so...bad!

yes, can not agree more. i can not find words for how uninspiring these albums are, especially the latter.
i only liked Did My Time from the former. and absolutely no one from that Britney Spears- producer team infected album.
btw i think you're very generous with your positive reviews, especially on the new releases. maybe 1.0 or 0.5 down, then it's more realistic imo. This Message Edited On 07.25.07

No, I think this a really good album and people just can't get over the fact that Korn isn't a bad band anymore. This album is a great record...easily. Its a very good album.

Never liked Korn, and doubt it will change with this release, but you did a proper job on the review, bro.

I'm sorry, it's really not that good dude. I would have liked it to have been.
It's just plain ridiculous to say it's their "defining" or "best" record.
