these are two totally different albums, suicide season was a jump into metalcore, and for that genre it was fine, i enjoyed most of the tracks, chelsea smile absolutely kills.

metalcore is a fusion of hardcore punk and extreme metal so I would say that they are metalcore (based on what I read in the review). A lot of people think hardcore and punk are different but hardcore was influenced by punk. These days hardcore has changed a lot but the influence is still there in the fact that the main focus is the lyrics. Not saying that this band is mainly about the lyrics but I'm saying that, from what I read, the band sounds like a metalcore band that leans a little more to the metal aspect. Good review though. I just downloaded this and I am about to listen to it but from what I heard this sounds good

it's hard for me to choose. hollow crown is alright, a few of the songs stand out (early grave & In Elegance) but ruin/nightmares are both much better albums as a whole. i love sams clean vocals but i hate how generic the new album sounds.

there are no standout tracks on Hollow Crown every track is mildly enjoyable if youre feeling tolerant of mediocrity.
