let us not neglect their best album, Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers

this is indeed the third in a string of fantastic albums though. One of the best bands currently operating.

Solid album, but really doesn't touch Alligator in terms of quality. I'm expecting it to grow some though.

I cant decide if it's better than 'Alligator' but it's another awesome album.

I don't think it really drops in the end. "Ada" is one of my favorite tracks on the album.

When this album first came out I rated it a 4. Since then, it has grown on me big time. Had to up it to 4.5. Even though at first I didn't think it was even close to alligator, I've changed my mind. Boxer is on par if not better.

Another thing. I rarely buy albums from itunes, but this one came with 2 extra tracks if purchased on itunes. So i did. The two extra tracks ("Blank Slate" and "Santa Clara"), are amazing songs and I'm suprised that they were not included in the album. The two played at the end of the album after the song Gospel make the album ending much better IMO. Closing the album with Santa Clara would have been better than closing with Gospel. Also, the song Blank Slate is perfect for lifting the album up at the end (many people complain about it drying out towards the end)....but i'm not complaining!

I love this record and feel it is on par with Alligator. Although this one is certainly more subdued and does not feature a lot of the raucous energy of the previous album, it makes up for it through the new textures the band has found in its sound. The drumming also adds a sense of urgency to even the slowest songs on Boxer. It really is a beautiful piece of art. They're a great live band as well.

I've been sampling both "Boxer" and "Alligator," I just can't decide which one to get. I really like more tracks from "Boxer" better but I've heard "Alligator" is better. I'm on a pretty tight budget unfortunately so I limit myself to one album a month haha. This is such a tough decision for me!

I've listened to 'Fake Empire' and 'Mistaken for Strangers' on their myspace. I'll probably e-steal this later.
