Well, there's lyrics relating to sex, drugs, suicide and things, but it's not horribly in-your-face, or just trying to shock.

Ok, I'll pick it up tomorrow, providing it's still there.

I sold this CD to my brother for $10 after buying it at a used CD store. I sort of regret it because it was excellent but it seems mixed strangely to me and that's the main reason I only give this album a 4/5

This reveiw sucked. Sorry for not going in-depth at all, if I felt like it I'd redo it.

I got this today....I don't really have an opinion, I'll just say, it's really not what I expected.
The only songs I'd heard previously were "We're In This Together" and "Hurt"

5/5
the wah-wah in closer is the bass i believe.

how so?

Well, since the only songs I'd heard were Hurt and WITT, I didn't really except the songs to be as light as they were (musically not lyrically)

Do you like it though?
It's bass with wah =)
Yeah its a bass with a wah-wah pedal.
I love playing that sound because its so effortlessly funky :D
easily in my top 5 albums of all time this. It's just such a special work. Every song on it phenominal, and no offence to the reviewer, but that was really a review worthy of such a special album.
Also vrenna was very much a force in nine inch nails for quite a long time, he recently released the second album of his band "tweaker".
Oh and trent's obsession with pigs is to do with the manson family slayings.
you may notice that this album's linear notes reveal that "this album was partly recroded and inpired by pig de la mer." this being the house that the manson family killed polanski and astaire.

I always thought that at the end of Hurt where the guitar hits that really loud note was actually the gun going off. He was considering not doing it but he could not actually start life again...he regrets what he does but he does it anyways because he has come too far.

A bit late...but yeah it's pretty cool. The Fragile pwns it though.
Im pretty sure the suicide takes place, those three really ugly sounding really loud chords that come out of nowhere probably indicate the suicide, the long drawn out 2 or so minutes are probably the dying process
Yeah that what I think too. He's waiting and waiting until he can say what he needs to and then the pulls the trigger to end it. Great album though.

Great review. 5/5 is not a point too much - this and most other NIN albums are truely amazing.
