I find that melodeath wears for me as well. Probably because it is not very deep or original as a genre.

DT is awesome. End of story. I find it hard to sick with At The Gates, "Slaughter Of The Soul" is boring besides the first two tracks.

Well indeed this is a great album, i don´t think In flames has a 7 year period of non great albums, Dark Traquillity and In Flames are two of my favorite bands but even they both play Melodic Death metal they are very different, it's both are great bands, similar but different at the same time, and I think Fiction i a killing record..

never really heard this band before (i think i heard "lost to apathy" somewhere, but i can't really remember what it sounded like), but i bought this album randomly today (mostly from the recommendations i got in my "best metal of 07" list), and i love it. like someone mentioned before, i usually prefer the guitar harmonies of in flames to the more keyboard orientated end of melo-death, but i dunno, maybe its just the foul mood i've been in all day, but i love this album (at first anyway) and i'm sure it'll grow even more.

Get "The Gallery" by these guys instead. It has no keyboards but the guitar harmonies are better than In Flames. "The Gallery" is easily DT's best album, probably one of the best melodic death albums ever.

Yeah i bought the gallery out of curiosity about two years ago and it amazed me that they are nearly as good without keyboards then havin the keyboards in their music.

I re-listened to the gallery again yesterday and forgot how good it was. Though if every song was as good as "Punish My Heaven" it would be a hell of a lot better. The only song that can match up with that one on the album is "...of melancholy burning" imo. I personally prefer "The Jester Race" over it.
And "The Gallery" is better than "Character" imo, though i absolutely loved "Character" when i first got it.
