Yeah, Cowboys From Hell is Pantera's best IMO.

They are definitely close, but I like this one just a hint better than Cowboys From Hell, mainly because of "This Love".

I've finally decided to up this to it's rightful rating. My first and most influential metal album for sure. Every song is ace, and pretty much what metal should be. Heavy, full of swagger, anthemic, and basically a perfect soundtrack to smash somebody too.

I sorta disagree with your "preferred songs". Mouth for War should be switched for a new level. You forgot fucking hostile (its a Pantera staple, one of their most well known songs) and By Demons Be Driven. Another fan favorite.

IMHO I think Phil's lyrics got better after Vulgar. FBD and TGSTK have some awesome, disturbing lyrics.



However, he uses his best lyrics when in Down. Over The Under has some of the best lyrics of his career.

Uh, i dont know what album this guy listened to but the lyrics are great for the most part, i could see how "RE-SPECT, WALK" could be seen as bad lyrics but other than that everything is fine. And the diversity is here "This Love" and "Hollow" are different and overall this album is EASILY a 5/5....easily one of the best metal albums ever.

Also, the breakdown in "this love" OMFG pushes me to the edge of breaking everything in the house....
