I haven't listened to this yet, only A Caress of the Void. That wasn't as good as Call of the Wretched Sea (Ahab), however.

I like Caress alot, it's actually a bit less doomy, but yeah, this is better. Dooom is bananas though. I honestly think the instrumental performance (the overall musicianship I guess you would say) felt kind of blah, but the mood it pounds into you is so freakin intense, even more so than Ahab.
Seems to me that each of these bands brings something fairly unique and equally excellent to the doom table. I'm finding it hard to listen to anything else right now.

yeah, Dooom is just has a totally unique sound so I put it aside from the others. I think you need to check out Ataraxie. They have yet another different approach to the same genre.

Fuuuuuck I totally forgot, thanks for reminding me!
But yeah, check this album out dude, you're gonna love it.

yeah, I've been meaning to get this, it's been recommended to me several times before. Hopefully will be able to get my hands on it soon.
Here's a download for Ataraxie if you want to give it a listen:

Found it myself actually but thank you
I'm always at least 5 or 6 albums behind with DLing vs. buying, but I eventually end up buying like 80% of the albums I DL. I just ordered Slania from Eluveitie, and Shrouded Divine from In Mourning. That was like 10 DLs ago though lol. This Message Edited On 03.17.08

yeah I'm the same, I like to buy albums that I think deserve my hard-earned cash. A lot of stuff is hard to find, but I was lucky to pick up a lot of stuff (Ataraxie, for example) while I was in Europe over the holidays.

Oh sweet. Yeah, the US of A is a tad metal-oblivious lol.
I can't believe how un-frikin-believably good this is. I don't give out 5's easily. Not that that carries a whole lot of significance haha.
Oh, and two tracks in, Ataraxie is badass. They're like the energetic side of doom...if there is such a thing. Lighter on the atmosphere, heavier on the riiifffsss! Good stuff. You're the man btw, the last bunch of albums I've gotten into were cause of you (directly like Ahab or indirectly, like this), and they're some of the best I've ever heard.
/end asskiss.

no worries, glad to be of assistance.
Also, not from the USA, I'm over in Australia :P

Oh yeah? Be'Lakor ftw man, Australian dudes, I have no idea if you'd like them, their melo-death basically, but that tag doesn't do them justice at all. The Frail Tide is one of the best albums I've ever heard. This Message Edited On 03.17.08

I've heard of them but I haven't listened to them yet. I'll check'em out.
