How can you not compare it to past albums when it's basically The Perfect Element Part Two?

I still haven't heard this band, but seeing as how TPE Part 1 and BE are getting so much praise, I should probably get those and avoid this like the plague?

Remedy Lane is awesome too. I haven't actually heard BE.

Yeah, I dig Remedy Lane.

Ok, this might go back to a 4. But it's still rather amazing. I dig this album.
Especially the rap songs at the beginning.

This is my first introduction to POS, so maybe I don't have the expectations, but I think this CD is really good. "Spitfall" is awesome imo, along with "Idiocracy" and "Enter Rain".

I think I've read that review elsewhere.
A very under appreciated and misunderstood album. I think a lot of it has to do with the first few tracks. No one was a expecting a semi-rap metal track, but if they read the lyrics they might understand what the band was trying to do and they pulled it off effortlessly.
The song Scarsick is a stab at glamor and what is a better way of taking a stab at it through a rapping style of lyrics. It's sarcasm and irony.

I was searching PoS on youtube when I came across disco queen.
I haven't laughed that fucking hard in a while. But to be honest, I liked it...a lot even. The lyrics are teh lulz.

Ok guys this album is still awesome I don't see what people have to whine about with this one. It's just PoS being PoS, a bunch of nutfucks who sing about pretentious topics and use weird styles then call themselves prog because they like fucking around with disco and rap.
And make the songs fucking work.
Though BE is still my favourite PoS album

I downloaded this and Entropia off of itunes to finish off my PoS collection (thanks to altmer's list). I can definitely say this is their weakest album, but I still liked it a good deal. May lower this to a 3 but for now i'm fine with a 3.5.
Disco Queen is one of my favorites on the album tbh, but it was the only song I had heard prior to getting this if that has anything to do with that (see my post a few posts up).

i've been obsessed with "Spitfall" lately, fucking love that song. I wouldn't say its their best song, but its probably my favorite to listen to.

I need to hear this, I really do, even if it isn't as good as their earlier stuff.

Found BE to be pretencious as all hell, is The Perfect Element the best place to start with this band? I hear the potential, but the half of Remedy Lane I've heard was sorta meh, BE was meh, and this was....confusing. I know there's gotta be something good by PoS out there, where should I be looking?

Scarsick is a brilliant album. It's quite hard to compare it against other Pain of Salvation records, though, as it's so... different. If there is one song on the album I don't care for, it's MMMM.
