They're rumoured to be one of the headliners for Glastonbury next year; them, Fleetwood Mac and, er, Elbow...

Listening to this for the first time, nice to finally have more than their remix albums.

Yup.

Only had their two remix albums, Delta Machine, and the Best Of compilation previously. I know a lot of their tracks but it's nice to have/hear the originals.

!!!!

Listen to Black Celebration & Music For The Masses as well, IMHO they're equally
essential albums :]

And if you dig them........ get the legendary 101! You won't regret it ;)

I went and got all their stuff, Violator just seemed like a loved album and a good place to start; definitely plan on listening to all of them though, really great band to play at work.

bloc's right, but quick rundown for you, Acanthus:

Songs Of Faith & Devotion or Playing the Angel for slightly rockier Mode.

Ultra or Exciter for cooler, slightly stripped-back stuff.

Black Celebration for their moodiest work.

Although anything from Some Great Reward (1984) onwards is pretty much great. A lot of fans (myself included) would say the glory days were in the period 1986-1997, so you could get the Singles 86-97 album, but it depends what you like.

Thanks Kaleid!

I actually am finding this album to be just so-so, the track arrangement really highlighting how out've place "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy The Silence" really are both in sound as well as mood.

It's good, but so far my love lies with the rockier Depeche.
