Quorthon owns your Slayer ninnies with one hand. It's a fine day to die for all those who died.

Listening to Oden's Ride...

EDIT: 3.5 from the first listen, it's a pretty nice album and the instruments are great, I just don't like black metal vocals that much. Maybe this will grow on me.

All that aside, A Fine Day To Die is amazing. This Message Edited On 08.13.07

Quorthon's vocals really aren't a good representation of black metal vocals. This is more proto-black metal than anything. It's still damn good, though.

I wish the rest of black metal was like this...

Yeah, pretty much. This is just raw and I love it; newer black metal is all about atmosphere and it really bores me...This Message Edited On 08.15.07

Although I love this album, I am thankful things are not your way.

Meh, I'd rather have a bunch of "Blood Fire Death" or even "Hammerheart" clones than the black metal that comes out nowadays...

If you asked me that would just make Bathory less special.

True. I like the small hints of atmosphere that surround this album, but most black metal bands just do it overkill...

I have always wanted to look into Bathory. But I usually just got over it. Is it worth my time? Well, I would assume your answer would be yes. Which brings us to the proper question: Would I like it, given my current tastes?

Yes you would.

As convincing as that sounds, I might need some justification.

Well, who (if anyone)/what they sound like. As you can see, I'm not huge on black metal in the first place.

for one, they dont really sound like anyone, they were originators like venom, mercyful fate, and celtic frost, so i guess that's who they would most sound like. and two, these guys are a great introduction to black metal, they have much better production so you will find them not too hard to listen to.

this isn't a good place to start though if you want to get into black metal, it's more plain and raw then what you normally would have. They don't really sound like anyone if you ax me
