With Hell Hath No Fury, Clipse's new album comes with some, well...interesting back beats. The tracks can go from a electric guitar melody ( Dirty Money ) to synthesized beat ( Trill ). Then it has some very evil-sounding backgrounds ( Keys Open Doors ). Also a very strange backtrack from Pharrel Williams ( Mr. Me Too ). The Rappers Malice and Pusha T are a great one-two punch on this album, picking up eachother's verses very nicely. The album also features Pharrel Williams, Slim Thug, Ab-Liva of the Re-Up Gang, Roscoe P Coldchain, and Bilal. All these elements combine to form a very well -rounded album.
We Got It For Cheap ( Intro ) has a very strong back beat, something that doesn't come in bunches in this album. This song leads with a strong song for a strong album. Then the following three songs are the heart of this album, with Momma I'm So Sorry, Mr. Me Too, and Wamp Wamp ( What it Do ). Mr. Me Too is one of the best tracks on this album, which is Pharell Williams’ own creation. With a dark, catchy track in the background, the song is Clipse at it's best. Wamp Wamp ( What it Do ) has a great, almost Asian feel to it. The song is high energy and another one of the best tracks on the album. Ride Around Shining has a very odd beat to it, it sounds almost like they just took random sounds and threw them in to the song. Definitely not one of my favorite. Dirty Money has a melodic guitar in the background, which I didn't find very appealing in general. Although, I thought the chorus was very catchy. Hello New World was another song I found to be not so great. The beat is another strange one, with traces of a symphony stuck in there. Sometimes you gotta wonder where they got these ideas for backtracks. Keys Open Doors was my favorite on the album. Even though it does have another strange beat to it, I thought from the vocal viewpoint, it was very good. The very true line "Keys Open Doors" construct the chorus. The verses were also very catchy as well. Ain't Cha is a bit more upbeat than the previous songs, but I didn't find to be a better song on the album. Trill has a very, very interesting song. Which I sort of liked, but then decided that the beat was too strange. I liked the vocals, but other than that the song didn't have much talent. Chinese New Year is a very good song, with yet another strange beat. But this time it has a stronger backbone. Roscoe P Goldchain does a good job with the vocals, keeping the listener, well, listening. Nightmares has totally different feel than the other songs. It's got an R&B vibe to it, with some organs in the background. Parts of the song have some traces of the rest of the album, but it tends to stick to the R&B side of things. This song should've been something more like the rest of the album, not something totally different. I thought this was one of the worst songs on the albums.
Overall, I think that this album is a great rap album. A little less mainstream, and the beats are interesting at times, but different. It's good to see something that isn't the same beats over and over again. Some recommended songs are Mr. Me Too, Keys Open Doors, Ain't Cha, and We Got It For Cheap ( Intro ).
