it's not really similar to Diamond Eyes or KNY. Eros might be though

In terms of experimentation it's a bit different for them.

I prefer their more melodic stuff but the songwriting comes through here

i always thought the (relatively) big gap between SNW & diamond eyes was due to the Chi accident and scrapping eros (which apparently weren't as related as i thought they were, according to the band at least - sounds more like a Detox situation than anything) since it was planned for 2009, D.E. only being a year later, really wasn't that big of a throw-off

Nah they're pretty related I think. Part of it was how much chemistry they turned out to have with Sergio too. I think since Eros was gonna be their heaviest record apparently, they wanted to make something more uplifting and cohesive with a different song writing process. Cause lyrically DE is pretty warm and uplifting.

i've never really thought of diamond eyes as an uplifting record, seems just as dark and frustrated as any of their other stuff to me

i guess the melody to 976 is pretty uplifting, but the lyrics aren't neccesarily

Sextape, Diamond Eyes, Risk, I never really thought about it as a negative record. It's definitely a different direction lyrically for Chino as he writes about more shit other than how pained the past circumstances were. Maybe empowering is the right word for it actually, not uplifting.

976-EVIL is hella-uplifting. That song is rockin.'

Interesting thoughts though, I hadn't really listened to Diamond Eyes with an attitude that it was uplifting.

Idk I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of warmth when listening to Sextape. Just sounds like everything one could want when being with the one you love. I wouldn't exactly call Cherry Waves uplifting cause lyrically it's a bummer but atmospherically it's also pretty nice.

well i mean it would make sense that they launched into a more positive mood, cherishing their own lives & whatnot, after seeing all that happen to their friend

i guess it just never came off to me that way with your usual screams/dark atmosphere stuff still going on w stuff like cmnd/ctrl, butcher, & prince hangin around

sextape is definitely a soother

Regardless, it's not on Diamond Eyes.

Ok, just wondering. I thought we were speaking of the uplifting, or empowering nature of 'diamond eyes' specifically.
